Dunno if it helps or not but I've done it myself, which is updating Direct Storage to version 1.2.3. seems it is more stable in general when its about the game and how it access to its files as you play in the open world
https://www.nuget.org/packages/Microsoft.Direct3D.DirectStorage/1.2.3
download package 2.68mb (change the file extension to .rar) copypaste both .dll they are located in native/bin/x64, dstorage.dll and dstoragecore.dll and replace them in your HFW install folder
You're welcome. I'm sorry to hear that. I hope it gets sorted out. If I had to start a playthrough of this game from scratch, I probably would never do it. In the meantime, check if you start experiencing similar issues or crashes in other games, as in that case, you may want to consider a CPU instability or chip degradation issue due to the known Intel Core 13th/14th Gen fiasco.
5900X with 4090 and 980 Pro SSD.
The shader compilation process in this game always occurs when you load your game for the first time, after updating the GPU driver, and if you clear the driver API shader cache. There is also some minor/marginal shader compilation/checks during in-game loads and on the fly during gameplay.
There is no big screen indicating the process, most shaders are compiled once during the game loading process and loads during gameplay, not when the game is launched or when you reach the main menu on first boot.
Did you update your Motherboard bios with the new micro code update and set the motherboard to the Intel recommended power profile?
If you have not that is the first thing I would do.
The problem you are describing is the CPU degradation problem that 13th and 14th gen intel CPUs have been having for almost a year now.
If you have updated the motherboard bios, set the approved Intel power profile and updated the CPU microcode and it still crashes on things like shader comp your CPU has permanent damage and you need to open a ticket with Intel customer support so they can replace the CPU.
