Why so many years between console and pc version?
It ruined the whole experience for me. i was hooked after the first chapter but seeing all the spoilers from console gamers YEARS before I could play it made me refuse to even buy this game...

You just wildly missed the point, they didn't allow ports at all before, it didn't matter what studio was doing it

Thats not what my response is directed towards.

"Sony didnt use to PORT their games".

I stand corrected though, it looks like Sony had acquired Nixxes Software in 2021. Apologies.

strategic reasons

Jim Ryan when finally agreeing to port to PC cuz it's a lot of money left on the table. He decided a 2 year exclusivity before the PC port was the best idea in the world. So even though some of them do well. Most don't sell very well because after 2 years the majority of the hype is dead.

because of exclusivity periods. This is one of the ways Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft etc are able to get people to buy their consoles. I don't know how you got yourself spoiled either, because I stayed away from any discussions related to the Horizon games in the 2 years between the PS and PC release dates.

Some people just have no self control ..... I just ignored the game completely until it came out on PC and it's really not difficult if you have even a modicum of discipline

I'm immune to FOMO Propaganda and have never even owned a Playstation or an Xbox, in fact the last console I ever bought said N64 on it over 25 years ago

Same here. Started thinking about buying it second hand 3ish years of waiting before I saw the announcement for a PC port. Felt like I was being rewarded for my patience :)

That's one of the main issues i have now days with all those exclusives.

Instead of using the synergies, such as: Advertise once and release it on all platforms at the same time for maximum reach and hype creation, they only release it on one platform but advertise it big and widely everywhere.

Then a year or two later, after the game is already old and the hype from all the initial advertising has already died and YouTube is already full of tutorials and stuff, they release it on the biggest platform, of course without advertising, because it would be far too expensive to advertise an old game again.

The result is a stale taste and a feeling of isolation when playing such games.

If the games were released on all platforms at the same time, then when all the advertising was running and the hype was built up, then people would feel connected.

The tragic thing is that not only is a lot of potential and money thrown out the window, it also changes future purchasing behavior and the desire to play. Often you think twice about whether you really want to buy it or whether you even want to play it at all. In many cases, the hype is simply missing as a driving force; instead, there is this feeling of isolation, which is anything but fun and conducive to buying.

This whole thing is then even promoted through old posts in forums and YouTubes. Because then you can see that others have already been through it all, seen everything, solved everything, recorded everything, and discussed everything. It's a bit like an old, worn-out movie that comes on public television.

But sadly, like many other frustrating things, it seems like this is now the new normal.
