It happens in other areas too, like Cauldron KAPPA and the platform towards the last boss (where it has been reported to cause crashes by multiple users)
I'm not sure exactly what causes it, but it certainly puts a heavy unnatural load on the CPU.
If it is 13th or 14th (and possibly 12th) generation Intel then you need to go into your BIOS and manually set the power limit and the current limit because most motherboard manufacturers are setting the defaults to ridiculously high levels. While most of the time it
s not a problem but when a game is compiling shaders on the fly like this game does in certain areas then it's going to overdrive the CPU because there is nothing to stop it from sucking down as much power as it can. It's not the game's fault or Intel's fault it is the motherboard manufacturers fault for not following Intel's suggested power and current limits.
If you have a 7000 series Ryzen I would suggest putting it in the Eco-mode which will allow the CPU to run cooler with a minimal difference in performance. (But a noticeable difference in your monthly power bill)
All modern CPUs are factory overclocked by what is known as the boost clock and the relationship between clock frequency and power/current draw is NOT linear, it is exponential meaning that a 10% increase in clock speed can equal a 50% increase in power draw.
So I have tested it just now, took my old save went back to that spot, it became hot again,
Killed the machines, got the checkpoint and guess what magically happened? The CPU temp became normal again..
That it happens two times like this is not coinsidence.. There must be a script error somewhere :)
There's an issue.
(I'm reporting a problem, and what is happening)
What CPU are you using, and what temperatures?
find the part where you have to kill the 2 snapmaws / burrowers.
When that part of the quest adds in it starts..
Edit:
Checked your screenshots to see if ya had one with those temps, and noticed you're playing Dying Light 2, and have temps of 85C. Is this the same CPU? Since don't know of a single CPU that gets THAT HOT in games, let alone Dying Light 2 which is very light load on CPU usage.
Well I give up, on this I move on.
END verdict from me game runs completely fine, except for the instance of that quest...
Im out. have a good one :)
Edit: Has something to do with the robots in the area because as soon as you take them out the high cpu usage stops.
Exactly, now there's more than 3 persons reporting this, but also could be an Intel issue..
Running a 13700KF.
Turn off the stupid "monitoring" apps and play the game normally. You will enjoy it much more.
I noticed No increase in fans at all playing this mission in 4K, max everything with fps 150+, on a would you guess it, Intel CPU.
the moment I turned away from the bog the cpu levels were good again.
I'm not a tech savant, but I'm really curious as what causes this, since the CPU usage was low, but cpu temps and power were crazy high...
Just my guess...
If I remember correctly, it's the only place where action takes place with "everything" in the game :
- Mountains + rocks + debris
- Dynamic Foliage
- Dynamic objects for the puzzle
- Water everywhere (reflections)
- Machines
- NPC
