New vista point mechanic absolutely sucks
I hate the having to line up virtually pixel perfect. Eff this stupid new mechanic, it's beyond terrible.

It isn't about pixel perfection, but rather about finding right spot. They are always near origin comm tower, and Aloy will give you tips where to look further with her commentary monologue until you nail it. Proper spot is always marked by small "lookout" construction, in same way jump origin point in survey drones quests are, and are almost universally placed in some sort of ruins. Overall, it's like searching for collectibles in HZD basing on their general map position, and I'd call it a good small exploration activity in break of pursuing quests.

Yeah, not a fan of that. I'd rather it be a climbing puzzle like in the first game.

Yeah not a fan of this, AND the other new inclusions with this game. But thankfully there are online guides that take the stupidity out of it.

'Near origin', until .... far west ... but I hated them too, more because I had to fight machines to find the right spot. And after a while I found a way to 'see' the spot where it must be taken. No fun, and the aerial ones are even worse

Yeah the Vistas are Horrible in this game.
Like this stupid thing: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3219484699
On Console its no problem since underwater looks like no different from on land.

I'm just skipping them because they add nothing to the story where in HZD the Vistas told a story about the end of civilization from one man's viewpoint.

Ahhhh, the annoying one; pretty much only one that cause troubles due to perspective - thou actually it challenges your way of thinking (because you are in water and by deafult think in 3D environment, while it should be threaten like others - as taken on land, from land perspective).

Vistas in HZD give background on Miriam Technologies, company of Elizabeth Sobeck and struggle to restore world devastated by climate change and wars - story of hope, to counterbalance much darker tone (or at least burden placed on Aloy) of main story compared to HZD.

Nope, it is indeed about pixel perfection. Yesterday, i was doing the one in Plainsong, and i was focus-walking every pixel on that platform, aloy constantly saying "i'm almost right" but it wouldnt activate. then i went onto smt else, and later googled just to see that the location is the exact spot i was in 5 times before.

Exact same happened to me in the Las Vegas Ruins. Seems to be quite weird, i'm pretty sure this wasn't an issue on PS4, but i may be wrong.

This may be port-specific issue caused by one of the hotfix patches, or yet another weird configuration issue. From my experience, vistas autocomplete as soon as you reach right spot and light Focus up, even before you manage to line image up.

They complete as long as you are in the right spot and look in the general direction while having the focus view enabled (and the old world overlay/hud visible).
There is no Pixel-point-precision involved.

Just because you hate them doesn't mean they suck. If you have trouble doing them, then, instead of whining about them, you could just look for guides and be done with them.
Astronimo Apr 11, 2024 @ 11:33pm
The one in SF was annoying. Others are fine.

The perspective wasn't the problem. The fact that it was Impossible to see the buildings with the Focus made it a real pain in the butt.

No they don't, for the most of them you need to be in the exact spot, looking in the exact direction, often doing mini-steps in any direction until it finally clicks.
There are a couple that clicks even when you are off the target.
The Tempted Man Apr 12, 2024 @ 3:13am
Skill issue.
Valhach Apr 13, 2024 @ 9:24am
It may be a port issue, it may be a hardware issue, it may be a kbm issue -- but if vistas are not lined up pixel perfect, they don't work. It's a waste of time. I'm in Dunehollow. I found a guide on youtube. When the guy in the guide is in the right spot, he moves his focus up and it seems that the game takes over and auto-adjusts the position and the vista point completes. I am standing on the same spot as near as humanly possible, and I get no such completion. Hopefully a patch fixes it soon.
