Don't do what I did. It will ruin the game for you.
I foolishly went to every corner of the map exploring and hunting for upgrade materials for every weapon and armor piece I can find and now I'm just burned out and hate the game.

There is just too much, work. There are too many weapons and combat styles to choose from and everything requires ridiculous amounts of work to level up and to get it to a point where the combat and story are actually enjoyable. Hours wasted hunting machines and finding resources to level up weapons that aren't even really that effective. Everything requires crafting materials that are from machines spread all over the map. Not only that, but after hours of hunting I often end up destroying the component that I am hunting for and have to repeat the process. Some can be purchased from scrap merchants but in limited amounts and with a currency that the game doesn't make clear where to obtain that currency.

NPCs are the worst. They just keep giving you side quests. Don't even bother talking to them. "Aloy! Come listen to my story." NO! YOU ARE GOING TO GIVE MORE WORK TO DO! FIX YOUR OWN PROBLEMS!! NPCs in combat missions are also terrible. They don't give you any space and often get in the way of combat.

The par-core in this game is also annoying. I've never had to jump on the same crate so many times in or climb the same tower 20 times in any game as often as I do in this game.

I'm done for now. This game is annoying.

I just received a legendary bow and the first upgrade requires machine hearts from “Apex Elemental Claw Striders”. I’ve been able to find Apex Claw Striders but not these elusive Elemental ones. It looks like upgrading gear is a grinding chore.

I’ve finally done enough side content (I’m almost level 60) not to care about upgrading gear and to do the main story head on.

You just have to let go of being a completionist. I too am starting to grow tired of the grind. Finally made it to San Francisco and I rushed through it.

Still enjoying the game, however.

Apex Elemental Clawstriders Hearts come from Apex Fire Clawstriders, found at night at Fire Clawstriders sites. Item name is missleading a bit (but source is still deducable with little common sense).

Agree. weapon is also f*cked up
You get hunter bow with regular arrow and fire, then there's another with regular arrow and acid, and another one with only acid and shock, etc. Sometimes you will see two same types of arrow in your weapon wheel.

They could make them into only 2 bow actually:
First bow with Hunter Arrows, Advanced Hunter Arrows and Precision Arrows
Second bow with all Elemental Arrows

Then divide them by the clan and give a passive bonus, for example if the bow from the Nora you get 15% stealth damage, if it from Carja you get 13% burn damage, etc, etc. Not forcing Aloy to be a weapon hoarder that needs to bring 5-8 types of weapon every time

This was the case in HZD, where you had Hunter Bow with regular arrows, and War Bow with elemental ones. They changed it in HFW for some reason, maybe due to fact that HZD didn't provide tools for close combat ranged fight. Thus expansion of Rattlers into Boltblasters, and change of Warbows into short range, quick draw weapons for more flexible gameplay.
It causes a lot of mess in early game, thats for sure, but later, when purple bows starts pop up at traders, hunter bows starts to be more specialized, and you can get both ones fixed on impact damage (regular hunter arrows, advanced hunter arrows, targeting arrows) and elemental(with either regular or advanced elemental arrows of up to 3 elements).
I Love How Him Say "Aloy! Come listen to my story." NO! YOU ARE GOING TO GIVE MORE WORK TO DO! FIX YOUR OWN PROBLEMS!! Lol :steamhappy:
I started off doing all the exploration/side quest/upgrade stuff only to realize now that the gameplay later on isn't my cup of tea. doesn't feel right. can't tell why really but I'm playing many games and this one just isn't fun for me except for watching awesome looking cutscenes with really bad dialogue. who wrote this stuff anyways.

Buddy I don't know what to tell you, if you a hunting for parts easy loot is very much a requirement you can't play on hard and above and complaint about not getting resources

About missions, that's a first where more missions are annoying for someone

After having had that exact same experience in The Witcher 2, The Witcher 3, and Cyberpunk, I think my days with CD Projekt Red games are over no matter how much the next one gets hyped.

Yeah, that's why I quite like HZD and HFW, once you're done, you can be done. I don't want to play just one game for months on end. I get restless and need something new.
i just wemod maxed it after i changed her face to a rice patty workers
I concentrated on the Sun Shot Hunter Bow and Vindicator Spikethrower.
Upgrade those 2 and you will have an easy time.
Ignore the Rest. Try to get Nora Thunder from Arena and upgrade this too.

Spike Trap Weapon Technique is very strong.

I can imagine that you loose fun trying upgrading every weapon and outfit.
But this is not needed.
Nothing beats a good grind, but then again I'm a Runescape ironman player, spending 10 hours on the same thing just to get enough XP for 1 level is my idea of fun

And yes I'm probably a bit insane

YOU being a completionist is a YOU issue. This game is very easy on normal, the main questline is doesnt require max gear to complete.

Everything else outside that is icing on the cake. YOU decided to grind and at some point YOU need to figure out if its worth it or not. GG is doing thier job and giving you something to do for hours on end..... and YOU keep doing it eventhough YOU hate it. At some point people need to look at themselves and understand that they are the problem. Put the controller down or do something in the game that is fun for YOU. Whats they point of getting mad at a game for something thats 100% optional.

Nah, the problem is not having much to do, the problem is when those things are too boring. I like to level up and get the best gear but most side quests in this game are just overly long and extremely boring. Plus some things like climbing are a pain, very inconsistent and unresponsive wich make doing extra stuff even worse.

i used the same weapons throughout the whole game

and the game is way too short to get all the upgrades

one would have to continue playing once all quests are done

and this is no fun
Even outside of being a completionist exploring everything you can as soon as you can can really mess up the story vibes. I did explore a lot and by the time I got to Gemini and they mention Hephaestus is cooking something up I did not give a ♥♥♥♥ because I had seen damn near everything available "Oh it is a slaughterspine and it isn't even Apex" best part of that little pool of robot building was the nostalgia it gave me for Zoids: Chaotic Century.

I would certainly of played the game differently with the knowledge I now have if I played it at all.
