I disable Steam Cloud. lots of games have trouble syncing with Cloud regardless of the platform... Gog.com, especially.
BTW, your local save files are in your Documents folder with the games name - take a look at the time stamps on those and see if a more recent one can be loaded in game.
But 15 hours?! Thats a long time. The game usually saves a bazillion times, tons of autosaves at various points. At the very least after each completed quest/activity.
The only time I havent had my own game saved has been zero storage left on the main drive, a problem I havent bothered to fix..., and the game warns me about that when its unable to save (unlike others that flat-out crashes)
i restarted the game recently and played for half an hour,
still i could restore the prev. game.
nothing wrong with cloud
some games like HZD store setting in the cloud
that is really bad if you have different machines
but FW will store game setting locally and saves in the cloud
if you have one device only it will not really matter
Kinda hard to believe that you didn't quick save at a single bonfire for 15 hours straight, as well.
I'm not sure, if this game does autosaves in the open world regularly or not... I never tested it. Just know that often after I die... I just spawn at the closest bonfire, even if I didn't save at it. (but I wouldn't play 15 hours straight without quicksaving at a bonfire, I know that much).
As for Cloud sync problems, I had it to where the game would be unplayable until I rebooted, because it can't upload sync with cloud and disables the play button. That's the main reason why I don't deal with cloud saves. Can't say I ever lost saves because of it, though. I don't think I have... with the only exception being games that tried to use Cloud Save as part of a Dead is Dead mode.... X3:TC tried doing that.
