OVERRIDEN EXTRA LARGE MACHINES
I just completed KAPPA Cauldron and had the ability to override Large Machines such as thunderjaw, slaughterspine etc. now, is it in the game design that I couldn't call it, whenever I want to, just like the mounts. it seems to me that you can't call those extra large machines. if you can, then how?

...u can only call mounts. And I'm pretty sure the developers didn't even want to give you that ability being that once you set a mount to be aggressive, they're pretty much unmanagable and get themselves killed practiaclly 100% of the time.

"Calling" machines only works for those that can act as mounts once overriden. For all others, the override eventually terminates and they revert to hostility, duration of the override depending on skills enabled and some gear buffs.

oh, so we can't use thunderjaws or those other large machines as fighting companion whenever we want to? oh, well it is what it is but it's kinda stupid that we can't call them to fight. I think there is a skill that makes overriden machines last long but I think there's no point in that. I'd just finish the base game and move on to burning shores.

i have read somewhere there is some item you can buy which will override machines for ever ... like for ever - item or similar, cant remember.

in HZD that was an extra skill.

No you cant call them but you can override them if there are too many

You need to get the “Lasting Override” skill to level 4 for indefinite overrides. You can get up to level 2 from the skill tree directly. There’s three ways to do it:
1. Food. There’s some foods that give levels of lasting override. This really only increases override duration to food duration + base override duration, so it’s not really very indefinite, but it can be quite a bit longer if you also have food duration upgrades.
2. Outfits. Multiple outfits give lasting override levels.
3. Weave. There’s a +2 lasting override in one of the armors that can be unlocked and then put into any outfit to then get level 4. Unfortunately I don’t remember which outfit off the top of my head, but I believe it’s purchased at Thornmarsh. The elite overrides weave also provides 1 level of lasting override, and you can get two of them, but that does take up both weave slots.

Overriden machines can disappear if you fast travel, but if you set them to defense they generally follow you around, so in theory you could override a thunderjaw and then romp around the map with it demolishing other machine sites, terrain permitting.

Do you have any idea how strong an overridden Thunderjaw is?

It's not stupid, it's game balance. Allowing you to romp around the map with an aggressive Thunderjaw mount would be literally gamebreaking. Even more so when you consider that level 4 machine repair is free.

Sure, it makes the Machine Master tree less appealing, but it doesn't work in any set piece anyway.

Great for softening up (if not outright wiping out) rebel bases with Clawstriders though.
