Is it just me or is the Burning Shores DLC just lazy?
The entire world seems so empty. Exploring is way less interesting on that map than the main game. It seems like the DLC was done by the B team.

The southern regions of the map do feel very empty. The scenery is lovely, and there's the odd datapoint there, but that's about it.
Would it really have been so hard to put a campfire or machine site there?

I was shocked there were so few sidequests too.

It's weaker than Frozen Wilds for sure, but I thought the overall story (excluding the forced and poorly written romance) was alright. The weapons, skills, and Water Wing were nice additions as well

the map seems small

I don't consider TBS "lazy" but it is not nearly as interesting or compelling a story as the Frozen Wilds. The major plot points seem very contrived compared to the writing in ZD and FW. Oddly, TBS was a lot more fun second time around, maybe because I no longer expected as much as the first time.

I was hoping for some really hard challenges, just like in Frozen Wilds, but it was the same difficulty as before the DLC.

Burning Shores is for the LA fanboys to run around and find their homes, and for Aloy out of the blue get a girlfriend. The only thing it got going for it is some interesting datapoints, and nice views.

Frozen Wilds was a really good DLC. About the right size map with stuff to do everywhere. And side quests that fit right in to the main story (thought a tad to many 'fetch quests'.

Burning Shores rolls on from the end of the MSQ, at which point you have probably obtained a full array of legendary weaponry/outfits and unlocked most of the skill tree.
Unlike Frozen Wilds where it was aimed at higher levels, but you could enter it very early on.

Nothing in FW was challenging if you came to it at endgame either.

I think burning shores was intended to be a quick "lets nuke the last Zenith" rather than like Frozen Wilds, which was intended to showcase the Banuk

If it was not made I would not miss it. The tacked-on girl friend was very poorly written and unnessesary.

I'd say Londra was a means to an end. The purpose of the DLC was to give us an expectation of what we'll be starting off with on the next game.

Same kinda thing they did in Zero Dawn. Minus the needing a PS5 to buy and play it, part. Those of us who only have a PS4 are kinda screwed. And I guess PC port got kinda screwed too since the DLC runs like crap comparied to the Base game.

I've seen a lot of comments to this effect but have not noticed any difference in performance in two playthroughs in either the main game or the DLC, other than longer loading screens that I found could be remedied somewhat by offloading a lot of collected junk from my inventory to my stash. I've been pleased to get ~60 fps in all areas and all levels of action, even during the Horus battle, with only very occasional glitches in dialog lip sync. I think the performance complaints may be more hardware related than game-code related. I also updated my nVidia drivers a couple times and noticed much longer loading screen and shader optimization times, which improved when I reverted back a couple of updates.
It wasn't very good. Far too short with a very unimpressive bad guy that came out of nowhere and made no sense. Forcing a romance with one of the most unlikable and badly written characters in the series so far was just annoying.

If they wanted to add a romance side-plot for Aloy, they should have done it over the course of FW with a character that is actually interesting. The Carja girl would have been a far better option for this since they actually have some manner of chemistry, which couldn't be said about the obnoxious twit that is forced on us in TBS.
Yes 100%. They wanted to test out the exclusive PS5 engine but with zero new content. 2 new machines that aren't fun to fight, nor challenging. Just has a ton of health, story that is incredibly short but drags on at the same time. A lot of boring detective work filler.

I don't think it's fair to compare the DLC to the massive main game. Burning Shores was a compact area, packed with cool secrets and we got every single machine + 3 new ones. I am enjoying it.

maybe the feeling of emptiness was based on what difficulty you had it on, and how much of the Burning Shores (0%-100%) you completed.
