[Solved]Frustrating Bug in Horizon Forbidden West™ Complete Edition - Gemini Quest Issue

Hello Steam Community,
I'm writing this post to express my frustration with a persistent bug in the PC version of Horizon Forbidden West™ Complete Edition. Specifically, during the main quest "Gemini - Talk to Gaia", every time I return to the base, the program crashes. This has happened consistently, and I've submitted several runtime data reports to Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) hoping for a fix, but unfortunately, the issue remains unresolved.
As a loyal fan of the Horizon series, I'm extremely disappointed in the lack of progress on this issue. The game is otherwise fantastic, but this bug is preventing me from progressing through the story. I've tried various troubleshooting steps, including updating my graphics drivers, disabling certain settings, and even reinstalling the game, but nothing seems to work.
I understand that bugs can happen, but what's concerning is the lack of communication and progress from the developers. I've seen other players reporting similar issues, and it's clear that this is not an isolated problem.
I hope someone from Guerrilla Games or SIE sees this post and takes action to address this issue. I'm eager to continue playing the game, but until this bug is fixed, I'm stuck.

Edit: In short, game file corrupted, now it runs fine after file update. 11 May

Been playing the game from start to finish, Had zero issues or crashes. There must be some thing with your hardware.

could be the combination of windows and driver version

win10 & HZD had some issues - might be similar here.

on win10 no all drivers failed (radeon).

got the same problem my dude i have given up playing this game for now until another patch shows up and hope magically fixes this problem, i have done EVERYTHING! including install NEW hardware and software but the problem continues.

did bios changes did system changes changes drivers changes hard drives changes graphic cards. reformatted windows 11 did a DDU added new ssd harddrive bought a new graphic card got more ram. what else can i possibly do its not our computers its got to be the game.


temps are fine also use msi after burning for all games it runs the same temps in this game as it does every other game that doesnt crash or give errors cpu jumps up and down 65c to 75c and the every know and then 80c for seconds at a time gpu doesnt go above 75c mostly stays at 65c .

went from rtx 2060super to a rtx 4060
went from 16 gb ram to 32gb also enabled and Disabled X.M.P.
added the game to 3 different working hard drives and ssds
reinstalled new nvidia drivers and then reformatted my windows 11 64bit

i changed all my game settings to lowest i can drop them to even though the game runs smooth at 80fps on high 1080p settings but gave it a shot and went lowest settings and still got a crash 30 minutes into game

Seriously, I had to read that post twice before I figured what your problem was in the midst of all that unnecessary rambling ><

Define "return to the base".
The only recurring problem I've had is on fast travelling. From your description, I can't tell if this is the same problem or not. Sometimes, for seemingly no rhyme or reason, the loading bar just hangs and never completes. Navigating to the locations overland is fine.
I don't know whether patches have resolved it, or what I'm doing when I think it's happening is helping, but I've not had it hang for ages. Ctrl+Alt+Del --> Open the task manager with the game in the background, and the majority of times it instantly completes the loading.

Dude, seriously. If you have wildly unrealistic expectations, you are going to be disappointed. You are not going to get personalised feedback on an issue unless it is widespread and publicised.

same problem at 2 different main quest gemini and faro tomb. and now all of the DLC is inaccessible to me due to immediate crash at the first main DLC quest. Different all brand new saves too

Have you tried underclocking ur Ram frequency and increase the latency timing?
From what I've read... this game is extremely sensitive to overclocking. And it doesn't matter if you overclocked it yourself or not. Even if the MB bios is doing a subtle factory overclocking on the processor or the video card, this game doesn't seem to like it.

i had a fun bug recently ... wanted to talk to some NPC to complete the mission but she was stuck on a ladder and would not move :)

After checking my local disk game files, I found that one of the files was corrupted, and the issue disappeared after updating the file. I can now continue playing the game happily, thanks to everyone's help. I'll keep this post for reference in case other players encounter similar issues.
