Stuck in New Game plus
I'm actually playing on PS5, but still applies on PC. I'm basically at the very end of the game in New game plus and fighting Tilda on ultra hard. I've sort of gotten close, but can't seem to beat her. Looking on-line people suggest using the maxed out legendary weapons. There is some debate as to exactly which ones to use, but to me that sounds like less of an issue.

I do have the legendary weapons. Got all the new ones from the Champion tokens. Problem is they are not maxed out at all. Most are at their base level. I was mostly plowing through the main quests as its a big game and wanted to get to the end sooner rather than later. Just spending a bit of extra time getting as many champion tokens as possible to get the other trophy for getting all the new items from new game plus.

So, ok, no problem. Just have to spend some time getting the parts to upgrade the weapons. Problem is, the machines that have the items are typically the tougher ones and I find at this difficulty level they have a tendency to take more resources to take down than they give up.

Ultra hard doesn't give you the option to change the difficulty, which that's fine, but that eliminates that as an option.

From the main menu I can't start a different New Game plus. I don't really want to do that, but maybe if that was an option.

Tried loading in a older save which was after I had completed the game and also burning shores, but that didn't give me the option to star a new game plus there either. Presumably you can only have one new game plus going at a time.

Is there a better way that I'm missing or a good stash of supplies to help keep up with all I'm using on ultra hard?

My approach is to more or less 'spam' her with a mix of Frost status (Bitter) paired with Glowblast Sharpshot Bow (or better, but the Tearblast in particular is great for quickly removing her armor), Spike Thrower (using Propelled Spike or Spike Mine) to stagger her, and a Rattler ; as well as keeping the "Toughened" Valor skill active as often as possible (big damage reduction + regen health every 2 seconds). Even if you don't have maxxed Legendaries it's doable. Difficult, but doable. I would definitely recommend having all of your equipment AT LEAST to Level 3 upgrade; 4 is better ; Max is ideal. TBH, the *new* weapons are barely better than the base game legendaries, as far as "economy" is concerned; most ammo for the new weapons uses Volatile Sludge to craft, of which you can only carry 15 at a time (for some ungodly reason), so you wind up eating through it in no time at all, leaving you with one less option (at minimum) for offense once you've used it up.

It's also worth bearing in mind what armor you bring to the fight -- different armors (especially Legendaries) give different skill bonuses + resistances. And moreso, it's important to be mindful of what Weaves and Coils you have equipped; those can make a lot of difference in any given fight.

But yes you are correct, halfway. You can have more than one NG+ going at a time, but you need to complete the story (beat Tilda) in each respective NG+ to start another NG+.

For what it's worth, my pretty much now-perpetual loadout for HFW is:
- Death Seeker's Shadow (Legendary Hunter Bow) -- Basic damage, cheap ammo
- The Sun Scourge (Legendary Hunter Bow) -- Element-focused ammo, mostly Frost, but also Fire
- Last Argument (Legendary Spike Thrower) -- Before this I was using the Vindicator Spike Thrower (Very Rare Spike Thrower)
- Distant Thunder (Legendary Shredder Gauntlet) -- Before this I was using the Thunderbolt Shredder Gauntlet (Very Rare Shredder Gauntlet)
- Tinker's Pride (Legendary Tripcaster)
- Glowblast Sharpshot Bow (Very Rare Sharpshot Bow) -- Mostly used for the Tearblast
AS NEEDED:
- Skystrike Boltcaster (Very Rare Boltblaster) -- Mostly used for fast frost damage/rapid Impact damage with Sustained Burst valor skill when an enemy is in Brittle state
- Perimeter Tripcaster (Very Rare Tripcaster) -- Extra element options in a pinch

ARMOR:
- Nora Thunder Warrior (Legendary armor)
- Tenakth Vanquisher (Legendary armor)

All of the above weapons/armor are from the base game IIRC.

Thanks for the tips. I'll check things out, but I know I have at least some of those things.

Speedrunners seem to have UH+ Tilda properly spanked. If you want to understand the most optimal strats for any combat, looking at speedrunner playthru's and their explanations of their loadouts can be very enlightening.

(My prediction is that the answer will involve "low-health ranged".)

I haven't started on UH NG+ yet, so my biggest hope is that instant brittle chance can still work on everything regardless of their resistances?

Because if it does, I absolutely steamrolled her on VH this morning with nothing but my Carja's Bane with 7% total brittle chance and two impact coils. My intention for now will be to do the same on UH.

Instant [Element] Chance does work regardless of difficulty, yes.

Would recommend watching some of the speed runners how they take her down,
he does a good job showing and explaining his tilda fight in some of his videos.

Mate, it took me a full 6 hours to beat her - I watched every internet pundit I could - not one of the weapons/loadouts worked for me AND I had everything upgraded, including all outfits coils and weaves. In the end I was so 'irritated', I just switched back to what I was comfortable with - sunshot, iriv's downfall, blast sling, zenith weapon, spike thrower and the cleaving sharpshot bow (blue level). I didn't use the two chests in the arena until I was just on dead - the spectre prime does not like acid or frost - so I hit it with acid, then made it brittle then lamped the last argument spikes into it. Be careful though - three times I had it on the floor and threw spikes into it and was insta killed - aoe damage??? Same with the grapple, so watch that. Used tear ammo off Iriv's downfall when I could - you get little time to wait for overdraw but can when it's brittle.
Since you can't refill your kit before entering that arena I had to watch for anything that took volatile sludge as ammo - hence changing to my 'normal' weapons I had played with.
That thing jumps all over the place, ropecasters took far too long to reload, in fact I couldn't before I was jumped on even when supposedly tied down - warrior bows run out of ammo real quick, and it just ignores tripcasters totally. Boltblasters were a joke.
Oh and yeah, I had made sure my pouches had none of the crap in them, just food, 2 health potions and 2 cleanse potion - guess what? The game auto reset my pouches to ONE SMALL health potion, and no cleanse potion for that entire battle - yeah it was manky. There was a lot of blue language.
Good luck - play with what you're comfy with, forget trying to dodge, just roll - I actually rolled towards it if that helps, kinda get under it's feet - you'll see after a coupla attempts.
PS: I can't quite remember which spikes I used - defiance, skykiller or last argument - I had so many attempts I know I changed stuff until I found the best one, for me.

use frost to fill status, once full change to acid and just rinse and repeat till dead. the yellow pieces of her armour already take double elemental dmg so hitting it while frosted boosts dmg by alot

Warrior Bow ammo costs absolutely nothing to craft. I will regularly burn through the whole stack of Light Arrows 2-4x in a fight with a heavyweight Apex, even on VH. Spectre Prime was no different.
