HFW vista puzzles are a wasteful time-sink
In the first game, you run up to the Vistas and view them. It was a relatively quick exchange of time for background information.

However, In Horizon Forbidden West (HFW), each vista is a time-consuming puzzle where you must find the right spot to stand to align the view. While the outcome is the same as in the first game, the process in HFW is more time-consuming, leading me to abandon pursuing them altogether.

The developers should have made the vistas in HFW the same as those in HFD.

Are there any other "busy work" changes between HFD and HFW?

I agree, I feel that forbidden west is a much much better game than zero dawn in terms of visuals and animations but gameplay is more raw imho.

Most legendaries can only be bought in the arena, you don't really need more than a bow if you are a decent player, too many items on map that doesn't add much.

Video games are a time sink. That shouldn't be a surprise. Don't do the parts you don't like unless the reward is worth it. I don't do the vista things either. Upgrading weapons and armor is an extreme grind compared to HZD and you'll probably spend the majority of your time in the game looking for upgrade parts and the machines that have them.

To me anything outside the main questline is icing on the cake. Do it or dont do it.

Two or three of the last few I found were definitely far too intolerant with how precisely you needed to be located but the rest I didn't really find a problem, there is usually some raised bit of ground or platform that gives it away.

Really? It's just perspective matching

The Vistas is garbage. Most of them it impossible to see exactly where you are supposed to stand, and then its pixel perfection to align.
And then you have the stupid Ancient Ruins. These was pretty ok in HZD, in this one its the worst POS in the whole game. Its nothing but jumping, roping, climbing and gliding to find a crate to drag half around the ruin, then repeat again for the next crate. Its not even any puzzles.

Interesting :D
I found them quite enjoyable as it breaks the mood from killing robot dinos over and over.
You don't have to do them when you find them you know ;)

The Vista Points are really easy in this game IMO. There is always "balcony" type of structure where you need to be AND the map shows the general area that it's located at.

As for the Relic Ruins, they are pretty easy to do if you like puzzle solving.... If you don't well... maybe don't do them :) (or look online on how to complete them or even speed run them :D)

I enjoy gameplay diversions, but not when they take 15-20 minutes to complete. Yes, 15-20 minutes because the radius of some vista areas is frustratingly large, making them not worth the time. My solution is to watch YouTube videos where someone else wasted time doing them so that I can see the background lore.
