tool wheel instead of scrolling left-right
Please make a selection wheel for tools.Hitting left-right buttons 100500 times to find a smoke grenade or a mount call is tedious

This definitely could do with some UX improvement for PC, it's hard to get eveything you need mapped into a comfortable position as is.
A simpler option could be a single key to press that then lets you flip through the tools with mousewheelup/mousewheeldown, which I was quickly begging for after my pouches were full.

You can always just hold dpad-down, select "change" to both re-arrange and hide items you have in your quickslot-menu.

There's no way to use a "wheel" for that, there's too many possibilities, and it'd be awful to navigate a wheel of more than 15 items with a controller-stick...

You are aware that you can just rebind your menu's left/right keys to your mousewheel? i did that immediately, way better to use.

the key you use for "using" a quick-item. IIRC it defaults to R on keyboard

A tool wheel would indeed be nice, that or binding tools to keys 1 through whatever's the far right of that line.

Speaking of keybinds / controls, did you guys know that some of the settings in the "gamepad" tab work for M/KB too? I didn't bother to check it because in my mind, those settings only applied to gamepad (they are in the "gamepad" tab after all), but turns out you can invert the focus controls or disable aim assist on KB that way.

I know that's an option but that is not useful if you don't want to lose the ability to flip through your weapons with the mouse wheel too.

I noticed aim assist could be killed via that option too, I didn't check the rest. You will waste a lot of arrows trying to kill the smallest critters while hunting for bones if you turn it off though lol.

Aim assist isn't too bad here actually.IIRC pc version of the first game had 2-3x more aggressive one

That's actually what I did until I realized that doing that also affects "select previous/next bodypart". The thing is you risk moving your mouse while using the wheel which means, if the machine is a little far away, losing focus on the machine and having to go through bodyparts again.

If it were possibly to separate the "previous/next tool" binding from "previous/next bodypart" then yeah I'd bind it to the wheel.

Why would you accidentally move your mouse when using your mousewheel, this sounds like either a broken mouse or your dpi being way too high.
Especially since there already is a "threshold" you have to pass to move your focus away from a machine.

Dunno, maybe I'm clumsy ? I go with fingertip grip so it's not exactly a firm grip.

You're rigth there is a threshold, but even if you don't cross that threshold the reticle can move enough that you lose the focus (like I said, when a machine is far enough away) for a split second and you have to go through the body parts again.

I think the main issue with the tools is that there's just too bloody many.

Having categories would help.
For example: I don't need my fast travel pack in the middle of combat, nor am I going to call my mount at that time. Thus, let me put those into a "out of combat" category. So when I have the "in combat" category selected, they don't even show up when cycling through.
