I could go on all day naming games that look better than RDR2.
RDR2 in 2019 was fantastic but in 2024 (or even 2022) it's age is showing badly. For instance nearly all the textures are 1K and 512 rather than 2K and 4K textures seen in games Like HFW, Avatar, Alan Wake 2 or any games that has been upgraded to PS5
People complain about the way Aloy looks but the women in RDR2 are some of the most butt ugly I've seen in a modern video game. The skin textures are just horrible in that game
Killzone: Shadow Fall -PS4
Until Dawn -PS4
Until Dawn: Rush of Blood -PS4
Horizon Zero Dawn -PS4
Death Stranding PS4/5/Windows/MacOS/iOS/iPadOS
Horizon Forbidden West - PS4/5/Windows
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach -PS5
All those games have amazing visuals
I keep saying to myself that the Decima Engine is by far my favourite. Horizon Zero Dawn - and now Forbidden West - gave me the "wow" reaction as did Death Stranding (all played on PC, I do not own a console)
I'm guessing its going to be a while for Death Stranding 2 on PC as like HZD, the first Death Stranding, and HFW I'm assuming it will be a Playstation exclusive at launch.
To the OP yes the graphics are stunning, and its Horizon - with Aloy - what's not to like :-)
Can't wait to actually fly one of those machine-birds. Not got there yet though, I'm taking my time, I keep deviating to those unknown places and feeling sorry for NPC's who've mislaid their friend/farmer/warrior/lover/cat/dog/rabbit(okay not those last three) carelessly near machines which are not too keen on humans being there.

It's the only game where I constantly stop my character and just look at my surroundings. I did it with the PS5 version and again on my 4080.
Overall though HZFW is a prettier game i think..
Having played quite a few games with Raytraced lighting, i can notice the lighting looking wrong in places where artistic designers didn't touch the game though.
But, the texture work and geometry in this game are amazing.
And so is most of the shadows and lighting and especially character rendering.
RDR2 though, i think can have better indirect lighting in some area's.
Still, objectively speaking i think Cyberpunk with path tracing is and will be the best looking game ever for a long time. That is; it's purely because of the extreme level of realism regarding lighting, shadows and reflections in combination with a high-poly environment and decent texture work.
Of course many games that will come out this year might look subjectively better, but technically spoken it will remain a milestone for a long time.
