Leveling is too easy.
I'm still in The Daunt, and I've already earned nearly 20 skill points. Anyone else feel like they're too easy to acquire? Does it stay that way through the entire game?

You do know you dont have to spend them right?

I think it's fine. You'll just have more options with your weapons and skills to pick from, which you'll need on bigger machines and bigger groups of machines.
You'll probably go splat first time you see a shellsnapper or a tremortusk.

Think of "leveling" as just getting back to where you should be, given that this game picks up where the character left off in Horizon Zero Dawn.

(You want a hard "leveling" experience? Grind your gear upgrades. Ok, certainly not hard as in challenging. But a massive grind.)

You get a lot of skill points because there are a ton of skills. I'm level 58 and still haven't filled every skill tree.

The Daunt is really a tutorial area so you've barely begun the game. Get as much experience as you can, you'll need it just to get out of the Daunt.

Every quest gives you between 1 or 3 skill points. They seem like a lot but IMO they're not, some skills take 3 points to upgrade and some you have to upgrade thrice. You can have like 50 skill points but once you start upgrading one of the skill trees they're spent very fast and you have to farm more.

HZD had a couple dozen skills or so, this game has vastly more, with small upgrade nodes, medium skill nodes, and several ultimate nodes, all taking anywhere from 1 to 8 skill points to fully unlock. You'll get flooded in skill points in this game but you need much more to max out, around 340 compared to HZD's 84.

Not every skill requires 1 point.
The deeper you go you will need 1,2,3,5 points per skill level.
Also Valor Surges have 3 levels (2 to upgrade) :)

Leveling aand skill points are not nearly as important as gear. Sure, the skills are powerful, but that alone isn't going to help when the Apex Tideripper has 4 attacks that one-shot you and 13k HP.

Skill points isn't levels...if its too easy, start on Ultra hard.
roddy Apr 1, 2024 @ 5:10pm
20 is few given the amount of skill points needed in the game as some nodes in the lower portions of the skill tree can go up to as high as needing 5 skill points.

This, I play on hard and often get killed in one hit by some monsters. I will do lower level missions when my gear is depleted, then take on higher level ones when I build it back up.

I'm level 30 and feel like I am running out, partially because I haven't touched the mount tree

I've always considered it an acceptable break from reality. Mass Effect did something similar.

I had no idea. I thought the game would automatically delete all my saves if I didn't spend them by level 20.

Hey guys im almost 60 and dont have filled all skilltrees here. Only one isnt filled. And keep in mind that you can max out every main-skill (the one whith 3 points in every middle skilltree). So maxing out every mainskill will cost you between 10 to 12 skillpoints. Im not realy sure atm but roundabout that points for sure. And you have around 15 mainskills to maxing out. So if you want to max out ALL skilltrees you definitly need a second playthrough.

Hope i could help ya :)
Cheers :Ori:

I always find it odd that people get genuine answers to their actual question but only ever choose to acknowledge the sarcastic response they get.
