Need to restart the game to fix FPS drop every 10 minutes
WORKAROUND FOUND : You have to lower the texture quality to high instead of very high. The game may appear to be capable of sustaining very high textures, but in fact it is not, and this is probaly what causes the fps drop when loading or reloading a new area. That wont exactly fix this issue, but it will help a lot as it will occur a lot more rarely.

Hi, the title speaks for itself :

While playing, randomly, but in particular almost every time i respawn or reload an area, my fps drop significantly. I can go from 90 to 45, sometimes 25 fps (in places where i can easily reach 90 fps in normal time), and this will stay permanently as long as I don't return to the title screen or restart the game entirely. After that, perfect frame rate, at least until i die and need to restart again (btw i'm in ultra hardcore mode so i die everytime :) ).

This is a terrible bug that needs to be fixed, please do something ! I know i'm not the only one in that case, at least I have a friend experiencing the same thing.

Config :
LENOVO Legion 5 15ACH6H
AMD Ryzen 5 5600H with Radeon Graphics 3.30 GHz
RTX 3070 Laptop 8Go VRAM
RAM : 24,0 Go
SSD

OK, so to give as much detail as possible, I've taken screenshots of the game with HWMonitor and Task Manager open, while the bug is happening and without the bug.

It's not bug. It's Nvidia's drivers that are horrible
The Tempted Man Mar 31, 2024 @ 3:29pm
disable steaminput. It's what causes the lags

Keep the Texture Quality to Medium for 1440p or High 1080p. Do not go to Ultra-High as your GPU only has 8Gb VRAM.

Don't die or teleport to any bonfire, if you do, you will have performance problems, im my case is it.

The only fps drop I get is after doing a screen shot. There's a 10 second delay pressing f12 followed by a severe fps drop which then recovers after about 3 seconds.

In General Settings scroll down to Stand By Screen Mode. Change the setting to 'immediate'. That's all I got that might help if it's a shader issue.

Thank you for your replies, but none of your solutions has solved my problem yet. Does someone have another fix ? Or are other players experiencing the same problem?
How are you temps since you are using a laptop. And is the game running on the gpu according to nvidia control ppanel?

Temperatures in both cases are normal, but the GPU is near 100% when the game is lagging. Of course, i remained at the same area, so my computer is perfectly capable to render this region as long as this bug doesn't happen.

I don't understand, really, please don"t hesitate to ask me more data if you have an idea

From what I can see at least your GPU is throttling.

Are you limited your frames to 60? That could potentially help a little but, and set your winddows power plan to balanced, and maybe turn off turbo boost and see if temperatures fix on the gpu part cause laptops are confined.

Processor use does not equal temperature btw. Temperature is caused by alot more then just cpu usage in percentile.

I dont think this is a bug with the game but more over your hardware not being cool enough.

Are you also using a laptop coolpad?

First, thank you for replying

1) I have a 60 Hz monitor so I have Vsync on which locks fps to 60 max

2) I switched from Legion balanced mode to balance mode, turbo boost was off from the beginning --> Same issue

3) The temperatures were the same in both cases, for the GPU and the CPU, but in one case it's running well and in the other it's not, so I don't think it's a temperature issue (btw 87-90 degrees should be ok from what i've read)

Trust me, it's not your hardware. It's either Nvidia's drivers or the game. So many people with an assorted range of hardware have reported the exact same issue on here and Reddit etc.

Use texture high for 1080p or lower setting for even higher resolution. Has the same low fps after cut scene and can be fixed only after restart. Seems issue in VRAM swap, no problem after use lower texture settiing.

Lower the texture quality.

I also experienced fps-drop after playing for a little while, started at 60 but then dropping to around 45-50, but lowering from very high textures to high sorted that out. Now its stable at 60 at all times (except cutscenes like for everyone else) in 1080. And it doesnt make that much of a difference visually

I have a 2070, so also 8 gb vram, and the card cant simply keep up with more

No, Not at all okay.

85-100 degrees is throttle range. That means your gpu will run worse just for your systems safety so you dont blow up your gpu. I dont know the throttle range for your CPU but your gpu definiatly throttles.

What cases are running well and what arnt?
