Game crashes on both, my gaming laptop and legion go, making it unplayable.
I was really looking forward to this game as I loved the first one, but it unfortunately is unplayable...
It crashes randomly on my gaming laptop (3070 + i7-11800H), even on the pause menu.
And on the legion go (all AMD), it continuously crashes after the "reach for the stars" quest (as soon as the cinematic is over, upon shader compilation).
Wait a few weeks until the developers patch things up or new drivers are released before buying it.

Why do you need windows 8 mode?

You dont need windows 8 compat mode for this game. lol

If you have a laptop, check if the game is running on your GPU and not just CPU via the nvidia control panel. Also monitor your temps btw.

i found the "solution" windows8 mode on this forum. Worked yesterday for few hours.
i don't have a laptop.

Impossible to play today, crash to desktop, or blue screen to restart.

Well... I think i have to wait an update to fix that

OP has one.

Do you overclock?

No, no overclocking
I read here and other forum that "high" PC configuration makes RAM or VRAM problem i don't know ...
I was waiting this game so much so I bought it probably too early, usually i wait to be sure that all bugs are fixed.

Thanks for your message

I thought you had the 3070+i7-11800H? Is the 4090+14900KF a third gaming system you have?

The new patch solved the issue on my gaming laptop so I can finally play it.
I also got the game running on the Legion Go after setting VRAM to auto in the BIOS instead of 4GB that I had before.
I hope you all get to have a smooth experience with it soon!

It happened to me, it's your settings files located in your save folder, it gets pulled with cloud storage and affect all devices.

Try these steps:

- disable cloud storage for the game on steam
- open: %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition\<user-id>\
- delete profile.dat
- launch the game

The game should create this file from scratch instead of steam cloud downloading the bad one, your setting will be set to default, but it might fix your crash.
