Does anyone actually use food regularly? And what are good food items?
Anyone figure out some really good food items? Like maybe for boss fights, cause they are too expensive and don't last very long (7.5-15 minutes max) to use on the regular?

Food is only for boss fights, in my opinion.
The problem I have with food is that it clogs the inventory wheel.

Hehe, looks like you are the only person who uses food here.
Can you recommend any good food items?

Yes food is important for me at least and gives you a huge bumbup in the health department for sure.

Food, outside of grey one, gives you perks. Basically, use food that gives you perks, that you don't have on your armor (and weaves). Like +2 to silent strike. Max points in any skill is 4. 2 from you putting points in it and 2 more.

Me? I always use it before going into outpost, big machine hunt or boss fights.

I started using it simply for the health increase during tough fights. Will save you from a lot of one-shots.

Two foods that are worth considering are Mesa Bread (in Barren Light) and Ruby Sunrise (in Legacy's Landfall). These dishes both gives +3 Evader which increases how many dodges you can do in succession and is notable because it's a skill that's only available from outfits, weaves and food.

Outside of that either pick a skill you care about that isn't buffed by your outfit/weaves or just get a food that restores 75% health/stamina and use them as potions.

To date, the only time I've used food has been during a fight with an Apex Slaughterspine where I was doing a particularly bad job at dodging stuff and I'd used up every other resource I had and desperately needed healing.

Mostly I just forget I have it. And it often seems rather redundant. All the skills I need buffing are on Nora Thunder Warrior w/ Potent Medicine and Valor Surge Master weaves. I suppose I could swap one out for Plasma Defence and use a food that covers it.

Maybe it'll be a NG+ UH thing. Depends if I need to swap armour more to cover weaknesses against the more deadly Apex machines.

I finished the game with all achievements except for new game + and never found a use for food, it's basically a waste of time.

If they wanted to be smart about it, they should give us a small passive bonus for every different food item we consumed like all games do nowadays.

These guys are too stuck in the far cry formula and gameplay features from the last century

I should, but I barely dont.

And it's like all the things stuck in that terrible tool-UI, I barely keep track of half the things in that. Picking favourites and bind them to said wheel would be far better, sorts like AC Odyssey/Valhalla have with skill-favourites in the d-pad. Or weapon-wheel style for them

I mainly use food when I expect to be out of healing (aka: arena style boss battles) or out of plants and can't retreat. But overall, they suck up too many resources on the 2 difficulty modes where you'll actually need them.

Until this post, I forgot food in game even existed lmfao. Never bothered with it. This isn't Monster Hunter, where food can actually make a difference.

I'm using +2 lasting override. It alow to boost it to lvl 4, which meant all overriden machines are indefinitely under your control.
Useful in Burning Shores DLC where Thunderjaw and Sloughterspine spawns are close to each other. You can override one to kill Apex version of other machine.

you can just put the weave for +2 on your armor to get the 4 cap, no need to waste time with food.

This is another problem with the game, there's 4 ways to get skill but the cap is +4 only, if it was +8 it would make everything including food much more useful.

You can get skills from: skilltree, weaves, armor bonus, food

In case you don't understand weaves, almost every armor as a unique weave you can unlock at lv3 armor and then use on other armors. Berry potency and capacity are by far the 2 best passive skills in the entire game.

Nah, totally ignore all berries in the game after consumed over 2k.
My choice on armor coils is low health defence and low health range damage.
That's why I don't need berries at all, just passive regeneration to 20% health over 4 seconds.
And that's why I have no spare space for additional coils in armor.
