Just like with Aloy (and real people) there are some more and some less flattering camera angles that's really all there is to it.

True, there's many moments in cutscenes where Aloy actually looks pretty good. But that beginning sequence with the big tree when she dreams of Elisabet... OML she actually looks like Shrek with that weird camera angle hahaah
