How good is Keyboard and mouse in this game ?
Compared to the first one ? I have a good xbox controller but I'll be honest aiming with the bow in the first game was so much better with the mouse

Well, for moving, jump, etc controller is the best option, but when you have to aim.... mouse it's unmatched, especially in this game, that you need to be precise to hit specific parts of your enemies. The keyboard control is just good, it doesn't cause any problems and it works well.

I played HZD on PS4, now the HFW port on pc with mouse & keyboard. Fighting feels better with the mouse for sure. Also, the game just looks sooooooooo much better on pc

Aiming ist the main reason I waited for the PC port :)

Even more with how quickly enemies shift around even while 'concentrating', hitting weak spots that are less in the open can be quite difficult without proper aim. At least for 'more casual' players like me. :)

Thank you ! I finished Dragons Dogma 2 yesterday (100%) and had a blast with the game. Sadly Horizon released on the same day so I had to make a choice. Now I'll finally get to play it and I'm glad it seems very well optimized too like the first one

Mouse controls on this game feel REALLY good, it is not emulated joystick like in Zero Dawn or Dragons Dogma 2. It is raw input, feels really responsive.

In fact, I opted to skip Zero Dawn entirely (I've never played either game) and watch a story recap on YouTube to jump straight into Forbidden West it feels THAT much better than Zero Dawn on mkb.

In one very niche way, this game absolutely trounces the first for me. walking. when holding the walk button in the first game you would start jogging again if moving diagonally. In forbidden west you remain at a walking pace in any direction. might just be a me thing lol but it really helps immersion.

You finished the game so fast, well with all the poor ratings and problems with game understand.... waited over year for this game with excitement, but based on reviews, over 20k people, will never buy now ...... never prepay a game, you get junk in the end.

You skiped the first one only for the controls?

If you're any decent with a mouse and keyboard, then very hard difficulty feels easier than medium or easy on PS5. I mean, you'retalking 1:1 raw mouse input, a high refresh rate with a fraction of the PS5 input latency, and best of all -- it only takes about ten minutes to set your 360/cm preferred sensitivity (both in aim and camera mode -- no hours of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with INI file or mods to diisable mouse curves, or sliders that use the same numbers yet difffer between x and y axi (AKA Starfield).... Hell, 360/cm even maintains consitency between FOV changes, and thank ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ god for that. It might be one of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to ♥♥♥♥ like this.

But yeah, mouse aming makes a HUGE difference -- there's no comparison, a controller stick analog aiming does NOT sllow 1:1 input. It uses an acceleration curve -- meaning, you don't build muscle memory over time as you aim. As years go by, this causes a MASSIVE skill gap for player who use both. So in Forbidden west, the mouse aiming almost TOO good. Even Zero dawn did NOT have raw mouse input -- it was analog stick emulation, and that might sound like a small difference, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ -- I am SO glad Nixxes did not ♥♥♥♥ up mouse input -- in fact, they NAILED it.

The Last of US and God of War (along with most other non Sony ports on PC) should take notes, because this is how EVERY ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game should have its controls implemented. Because when you've been using the same 360/cm sensitivity for over 2 decades of gaming, the fact that you can simply hop in a game and NOT either fight with the control settings for hours (♥♥♥♥ YOU Uncharted Collection on PC in particular for making me do this), nor must you force to yourself to unlearn decades of habits -- which I'm not going to do, at least not if I'm paying money for a game.

And I said it already, but the single biggest thing this port has going in its favor is not the graphics, it's not the QOL features, it's raw 1:1 mouse input. So if you've been using mouse and keyboard aiming for years, those years of muscle memory give you a STUPIDLY massive advantage over stick aiming. Like I said, Very Hard is fairly challenging, but it's not even remotely more difficult than any other game on normal or hard using a conroller.

Honestly, the mouse aiming alone makes the PC version of this game make it one of the most satisfying games I've ever played. Combat is pure joy. If you play this game with a controller, you're playing a whole different game, and a MUCH inferior one at that. Don't even bother.

Instead of constantly using concentration to slow down time before each hot, you find yourself going a bit more YOLO into combat -- it's so much fun viscerating eneies' weak spots by firing off those twitchy style FPS precision shots -- the pacing of the combat is quite a bit faster without an over reliance on stick aiming handicaps. You move more too, with a lot more dodging to put yourself in the perfect position to, say, move out of the way of a charging dino, giving you more than enough time to instantly 180 and hit its rear weak spot with as much as ease as popping head sin Counter-Strike or Valorant.

Hell, I don't think I've had this much fun in a shooter, FPS in a while -- online, single player, doesn't matter -- not much comes to mind. Maybe Resident Evil 4 would be the last time I could say that.

I moved Dodge to my Middle Mouse Button and have no problems with combat. I am used to using M+K in games so I can whip around and aim very quickly and precisely during combat. Considering how important it is to hit specific spots in this game, that quick precision is very useful.

Like this guy, I really enjoy the combat in this game. The first five levels were frustrating, so I turned down the difficulty for those, but once I got the hang of things I turned it back up. On Normal, barely any animal can get to me unless it's a Big'n.

Its excellent! you will feel the game was designed for PC, great port! Unlike other games that was claim to be PC game but feel like its a second thought, i.e. Diablo 3.

I played HZD exclusively on PC and although I bought HFW for my PS5 originally, I found myself struggling with it using a controller. Since they didn't offer kbm support on PS5, I ended up waiting and rebuying the PC port when it came out. Although it sucked waiting, I'm having a much better time this way.

Aiming is much harder with the controller for me and, more importantly, so is controlling the camera smoothly. The controller ends up making me motion sick very easily. I could have gotten better at aiming with practice, but I couldn't deal with getting queasy after ten minutes of playing. It was worth waiting for the port.

Like any game you need to aim , the difference from using controller is about precision in miliseconds,Both games in PC feels really nice with mouse and keyboard, you don't need anything else, be it raw input or not, the difference with a controller is night and day

I play on Very Hard with Controller.
Aiming is much better with mouse but the traveling feeling for me is better with controller. So i use Controller with default aim assist.
