Tired of the cheap ass combat...
Not only is it ridiculously hard with every damn machine bouncing all over the map making too hard to target individual parts, but the fact that when you respawn at a check point after getting killed you don't get any of your used ammo back.

So here I am in a fight with zero ammo now with two stealth machines in a quest area where I'll be forced to go way back to a previous save at do the 30 minutes it takes to get to this point all over.

If I couldn't beat the encounter the first time, how the hell am I supposed to do with significantly less ammo the next time? So stupid.

Play longer and you will know your enemy. It gets easier to dodge when you know when and always know your 360 degrees, or you'll get stomped. I love the challenge. I was struggling at first but know, with the right ammo, you can drop most with just a couple of hits. Easy Peasy

Still doesn't help with not getting may ammo I used back. I feels like they intentionally make it harder for failing. It's insulting and it wastes my time. They need a better checkpoint system.

It would probably also help if they didn't have so many scripted ambushes that have enemies instantly start throwing all their attacks at you once a cutscene ends. Literally the minute the game loads I get sniper shorts directed at me from the two stealth machines they have ambush me.

its not the issue with the game, if this is issue to you then that is also an issue to you to other games. some games are meant to be played this way, try first then analyze the enemy, if you killed it then well and good, if not then try again. Unless you are playing hardcore (aka Diablo edition) then, you have to prepare very well, otherwise, just go on with the flow.

Well the trade off is anything you picked up like parts you knocked of you also keep.
OFC you can just make a manual save at a fire and reload to that.

And for the enemy jumping around yes they are very fast but you have a slow-mo and traps.
And stuff like the exploding javelin thing works pretty well regardless of where it lands.

playing on very hard and that fight was one of the few I had to replay a couple of times, just because their charge up thing one hit me.
Took me two times before I picked up on the sound it makes before firing.

Beat it easily by using the tripple arrow knock ability , ranged master valor thing and slow-mo to burst dps.
for the first machine I knocked of all it´s weapons and invis gen during my first slow-mo and it wasn´t much of a threat.
I also used the traps and wires you can set to create a safe zone as the AI either avoids hitting the traps or if it does takes a ton of damage.

Load an earlier save...
in short, I feel you. But also, you have to approach machine combat in the way the game teaches you by understanding different elements and status types. The other thing is, the larger the enemy, the bigger the persistent weak spot... usually. In order to play on higher difficulties, these are things you have to focus on in combat. Highly recommend you look at some combat tip guides.

git gud is all i can say tbh. i was playing on normal and i found the game to be extremely easy, so i jumped to very hard and now its actually a decent challenge.

The big weakspots are generally Parts you dont want to destroy tough because you need them intact. Dont see any reason why they changed it that way and didnt keep the looting system like HZD.

I don't feel its hard at all. Infact I think the game is easier than the 1st game. Just use all the tools given to you. Frost and acid are especially effective to machines weak to them. Get the machine in a frozen or melting state and then use your best impact bow. They will go down quickly. Fire is also real good if a machine is weak to that . Fire is a damage over time if you can get them into the burning state.

Just like with the first game, I found it a good idea to play on Easy for the first 5 or so levels, until you've got a little more variety in your weapons and tools. Then I move it up to normal for most of the game, maybe hard near the end when I start facerolling most foes.

Don't forget that you can use your Focus skill (Shift by default on Keyboard) to slow down combat while you're aiming - knock and draw your arrow, then slow time while you pick your shot.

Don't forget to use your sniper bow from a distance - I can kill most creatures with a few well placed shots before they get to me.

Don't forget that fully drawing your arrow before firing also does more damage and tear.

Try out the "Easy loot" option in Settings. I personally find it more believable to be running around in a world full of robot dinosaurs than I do when I see loot getting "destroyed" because I didn't *shoot it*. :P
