Too long missions: can I just quit and resume later (eg valid save point)

I get exhausted doing the cauldrons and I'm in what I think is the middle of Death's Door and I'm beat, done no energy left and I just want to quit and come back tomorrow.

With no camfires to do a manual save, what are my options?

Game uses autosave.
You can just quit and won't lose much progress.
ofc. those are temporary saves. If you laod a different save and play, you will lose them.

If you want to be sure, just open the menue and check the time stamp on the save games available to load.

My timestamps are so wonky (eg, they are showing 21:30 and it's 13:48 here. I think there must be a setting somewhere for timezone and mine is set wrong.

That's probably play time. Can't check as I'm not at the pc.

The game literally tells you that once you start a cauldron you have to see it through to the end. Cauldrons take about 20-30 minutes to complete so I’m not sure what people’s interpretation of “long” is.
