Erroneous Steam Achievement Pop-Ups

I'm getting Steam Achievements that are incorrectly popping up during the first time I do an event that would later trigger a Steam Achievement. For example:

- First time I encounter a machine, I got the achievement for encountering and scanning every machine (first 5 seconds of video)
- First time I killed a machine, I got the achievement for killing every machine (last 5 seconds of video)

What's really weird is that I didn't actually receive the achievements in Steam; I still have 0 / 80 achievements. I just see the pop-up in game via the Steam Overlay. The Steam Achievement Toast audio cue is also missing, so perhaps this is a Steam Client bug.

Okay it seems like these are in fact the "progress notifications" (e.g. a notification for killing 1/10 machines by stealth, 2/10 machines by stealth, etc). The new Steam Big Picture mode cuts off the part of the UI that differentiates progress notifications - the part of the achievement that has the (x/10) wording.

So not a HFW bug here, just a nuisance with Steam.

I've had level 60 pop up numerous times but not since I levelled up to 60

You can disable the full Steam overlay for the game by going to the Steam settings of the game (right click on the game > disable overlay). Or globally disable the overlay by going into Steam main settings. I think it's the only way to not have achievements popups.

I have the Steam overlay disabled, and I was still seeing popups in the screen corner during the game. I think my solution to this was to disable all popup notifications in the Steam client: Steam -> Settings -> Notifications -> Show Notification Toasts -> Never.
