CANNOT PURCHASE FROM ANY VENDORS?

I did the required quests to open the vendors but still cannot purchase anything from them? I can sell to them but thats it. Am I missing something here?

Once you end the work stoppage at Chainscrape the vendors should be fully available to buy from and sell to. When you interact with a vendor they should open the trading screen where you can switch between the Buy and Sell options at the top of the screen. Do you not see both options at the top of the screen when interacting with a vendor?

Either you dint do the story line for Chainscrape completely or the game "got stuck". Quit the game (alt-f4 is fine) and restart. This often fixes those small annoying "stuck" things.

In the privacy settings, you can have your profile set as public but games set as private. That's what he did ;)

That mouse icon next to the username is a Steam function, users cannot hide it and it only shows when a user actually owns the relevant game for the discussion they are posting to.

As nomadUsagi points out, users can set their profile as Public but they can choose to set each of their Game Details, Friends List and Inventory as either Public, Friends Only or Private. However, regardless of which settings you choose for your profile, that mouse icon is completely separate and will always display if you own the relevant game on Steam.

You can easily verify this by editing your own profile and selecting the Privacy Settings option.

yes I see both options to buy and sell however when I try to buy something it says I do not have enough resources when I have enough to purchase the item.

he set his games to private and left profile to public. but he has between 250 and 500 games look at his steam badge

Are you sure? You often need both shards and specific parts from machine animals etc... If the parts are red you don't have what you need.
