The video linked in this thread shows different DL techniques as well as frame generation features that are known to blur fine detail in exchange of improved performance. Poor/flawed comparison effort.
hzd pc release was superior (after some patches) and it would be stupid if it is not the same for hfw.
in hzd i`ve got best results with 4k dlss quality setting instead of flickering taa.
Well, that's a bummer...
At least now I understand why every NPC's beard look like ****.
Hope they'll fix it before summer.
So I really think as well that there is an issue.
Does it make the game in general look worse than the PS5 version?
Surely not and I think most people here agree that the PC version in most aspects looks and runns much superior to the console version.
However that doesn't mean we should not point out things which as of now may still look worse. It's not about accusing the game or port to be bad, contrary I think this is one of the best pc ports. It runns and looks great overall and it offers all kind of options to disable blur effects etc which I really appreciate.
Still the game is just released and may have some bugs and that's ok.
However even if some people can't see it or don't feel bothered about it, its absolute legit to point it out and hope the devs will look into it and fix it.
That's one of the things I don't understand that some people always need to claim there are no issues or problems just because "they" didn't experience or notice them.
Or sometimes even ask the devs to not improve or add additional options for some things because they personally don't need it.
While I also highly dislike this blind and sometimes really unjustified blaming and hate saying everything is bad mentality of some people, there is also no need to pretend everything is perfect and flawless when it isn't.
This port is great, but I agree that for me it also looks like pointed out in the video and screenshots that there is a bug and I hope NIXXES will address it with a future patch.
they dont want we have a huge difference beetween version, so its always more sharper and smooth.
i see freinds play HFW ps5 quality mode and pc ultra 4k is just more sharp with 100 fps more lol (rtx 4090)
It's definitely an issue.. cmon now lol. They game is supposed to look a certain way.. and it doesn't. Photo mode exists to take pictures and get close up to things.. It should be fixed.
I mean, seems something you should notic when testing...
I did get one occasion where the hair was scuffed like in your first picture, even with Default settings, but closing and reopening Photo Mode fixed it for me. So yeah, I still believe it's an issue with Photo Mode specifically not loading assets correct. It's an issue, yes, but it's one you absolutely do not run into under normal circumstances.
Frame generation degrades the graphics and thus this guy's amateur methodology is flawed. The reason you don't notice the frame is degraded is it only lasts 10ms @100 FPS and is sandwiched between two pristine frames. If you freeze it you will see the artifacts but you need special hardware to capture the actual frame buffer which doesn't happen with just taking a JPG screenshot or an encoded video, you need the raw frame data
What makes Digital Foundry exceptional is they use special hardware and a custom software package specifically built to capture raw frames because there is no other way to do it on consoles since you have no access to the OS so to do them correctly you need a second machine to capture the raw frames and not just compressed JPGs or compressed video where the compression affects the final product. Both use "lossy" compression which means details are removed and other blended in order to make the file size several times smaller
And to the claim made that FrameGen is causing this issue - I turned of FrameGen and it looks exactly the same or atleast I can't spot any difference at all. So I don't think this has anything to do with FrameGen either.
