anyway to get parts stealthily without raising alarm
now parts destroyed on death. So, I can no longer stealth kill all machine and harvest their parts. If I tear off one part, every machine will go nuts.

so, is their any ways to get the part stealthily and not alarming any other machine or making a big fuss?

It is annoying to spend tens of minutes to do something that could be finished in 5 minutes in HZD.

its difficult but not impossible it takes some time for them to return to normal schedules, just wait for that, stealth is much more present in this game than in the first one.

Not raising any alarm is the key problem.

Triggering alarm and wait for it to return to normal is not what I am looking for.

even with stealth stalker valor surge, I cannot get parts from machines without raising a single alarm in forbbiden west.

do they find out where you are immediately after tearing off one part?

man that is still very tedious than fun.

There is an option under custom game difficulty that makes it so that still-attached parts are not destroyed on machine death. If you find the mechanic un-fun, you can change it.

There are some perks in the Infiltrator skill tree that should help with tearing off parts in stealth. You can usually get off a couple of shots with one of them before getting detected and the other one gives you more tear damage in stealth so you can strip a component in one shot. Then just wait a bit and sneak over and grab it. Also look for Hunter Bows that have high tear damage but be aware that those give you less overall damage.

1) traps
2.) investing in the infiltrator tree
There are some skills that add to part removal, but I forgot what they are.

but those are apex versions, they are supposed to be harder and impossible to override, i reached the addon just recently and so far i can say I never really used the buzz thing or the combat bow, i went with the sharpshooter bow and skilled the hunter and stealth class for the most part right now im trying to work with trap and the trapwire launcher, which is highly effective if you find one with explosives i put all my explosive coils into it and its really really good, if i have to bail during combat i just jump over them and the machines usually die when they rush towards me, this kinda gives you an invisible protection wall, so if you still have detection issues you can make a small perimeter with the wiretraps for your own protection its definitely worth it.

Oh i totally forgot to mention the explosive spears im in love with them and you get them extremely early in the game, i dont fear thunderjaws any more.

If you deal enough tear damage in one shot (not multi-arrow, specifically), you can hit the part you need to tear it off and the enemy will go on alert (yellow). Unless you shoot it again, it'll go back to passive (blue).

Very notably - you can shoot one enemy, and then another, and then another, etc. without them going aggressive (red). It's only if you shoot/damage a single enemy twice. If you're trying to farm detachable components from a group of enemies, not a single one, this helps a lot.

Armors, weaves, coils, the specific ammo you use, etc. - all factor into your tear damage. Stacking stealth damage bonuses can help a lot as well. So can the different valors you have access to. You can optionally knock down the machine or tie it down with a ropecaster, but only if it's the only one (otherwise you'll aggro nearby enemies), but this makes it easy to do triple arrow attacks on whatever part as they lie still.

As noted, Apex Machines (dark armor with gold trim) go full aggressive once damaged at all. These are very much meant to be harder machines, but they don't have any unique detachable loot. Their "improved loot" is all part of the normal enemy loot pool (i.e., what you have a chance of getting once they're dead, not from specific components).

And as also mentioned, you can specifically adjust one of the many settings to change how enemy loot works, if you don't find it fun. It wasn't really that different in HZD, just more nuanced in HFW so it takes more work. Tearblast arrows and sharpshooter bows in general are much less powerful than they were in HZD.

Yeah, multiple arrows doesn't help if you want to remain unnoticed. Sharpshooter isn't *bad* for tearing off parts, but it is much more aimed at being a long range impact damage weapon first. It can be useful to to more quickly kill a machine while tearing off parts. I think it still gets Tearblast Arrows at some point, but I haven't gone past Plainsong so i haven't encountered them yet.

Silent strike works for me. Nearby machines often ignore me as long as they’re facing away.
Astronimo Mar 30, 2024 @ 2:21am
On Very hard and Ultra hard you can't. Direct hit activates combat mode.
On other difficulties - you can. But only in one shot.

I am playing on very hard and I notice it does not always about one or multi-shot. Machine part hit, distance and their sight of your direction also matters. I tried tripple notched on charger and as long as I'm hitting removable parts, not very close to the machine and they are not looking directly at you, you will get away with yellow status.

any hit on body is immediate red. hiding close or next to the machine is red.

I really hate options that are hidden like this until you select "Custom" - I'd rather show all options and just disable them so at least I know what is available.

That being said, it appears that "Easy Loot" only happens when difficulty is Easy or Story. Or at least, I could not find this option separately without changing the entire game experience ...
