ATTENTION: If you have performance problems, DISABLE Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling
Hey all! I know most of you, including me, have been whinning about the super annoying stutters in this game.

I figured out what's causing them all, its Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling. It fixes all of the mouse input issues, the Nvidia Reflex lag issues, and any sort of frame pacing issues.

It also improved performance for me around 10-20% so its a massive difference.

Please, do yourself a favor and disable this feature in Windows 10 or 11 if you want to run this game smoothly.

UPDATE: I made a major discovery. Installing Nvidia GPU drivers through GeForce Expereince/Nvidia app, apparently doesn't clean install the drivers.

I downloaded a fresh copy of the latest Game Ready Nvidia drivers from Nvidia's website, and uninstalled the Nvidia App. And walla! The game now runs even smoother for me than ever, and its running super smooth with Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling turned on!

For real, i cannot believe how garbage it is even though it's been out for several years. It sucks that you need it for DLSS 3, but the performance improvement from having it off is like having DLSS 3 on anyways.

I Had all sorts of issues:
- fps & performance drops in cutscenes, indoors and in cauldrons & insane frametime increases.

I CAN CONFIRM DISABLING HAGS HAS SOLVED ALL MY ISSUES!!! (just disabling FG in the game settings didnt help!)

config:
13900k, 32GB RAM, 4090RTX

Somebody posted that the latest nvidia driver 551.86 has a bug with HAGS. No idea if that´s true but disabling HAGS has helped with performance.
Helifax Mar 27, 2024 @ 11:57am
Very weird. I noticed the same on one of my Alienware laptops (9900k + RTX 2080). Turning on HAGS allowed me to play the game on my external 5120x1440p monitor with a fluid 50 FPS. Yet, the moment I enabled it the game runs fine until a cutscene or fast travel when the FPS drops to 20...

On another laptop (10900k + 2080 Super) it does not do this though... Very very very strange. Both have same version of Windows 11.

On my desktop 4090 + 13900KF, HAGS also doesn't seem to be an issue, so I am confused as what the hell is going on.

"On my desktop 4090 + 13900KF, HAGS also doesn't seem to be an issue, so I am confused as what the hell is going on." If it was it would be awkward as HAGS is a requirement for DLSS Frame Generation.

Frame gen is terrible all it does is add latency.

fg is fake frames + input lag

it's trash

I think it depends on the specific CPU/GPU you have. HAGS transfers some of the rendering done on the CPU to the GPU. If you have an old CPU and a newer GPU this should help performance. If you have a new CPU then you shouldn't need it. This game uses a lot of VRAM and depending on your GPU, adding more rendering tasks to it may max out the VRAM. When that happens the pc uses system RAM to make up the difference. System RAM is slower which can cause fps drops and stuttering. 8Gb of VRAM is kind of a minimum for this game and you really need 12Gb or more to prevent the HAGS effect, so best leave it off unless you want to use frame generation.

its mostly for CPU bottleneck scenario

basically it take some work from CPU to your GPU

Can you still use FG now? Without the stuttering?
『Insperatus』 Mar 27, 2024 @ 12:54pm
apparently disabling High Precision Event Timer gets rid of stuttering on SSD and HDD, gives a bit of an FPS boost as well. Might also get rid of some graphical glitches
M@$T3R Mar 27, 2024 @ 12:55pm
No, unfortunately HAGS is required for FG. But with my 4090 I het around 100 FPS constantly without FG & HAGS and around 130/140 with it BUT with the above described game-breaking issues.
limonadacaseira Mar 27, 2024 @ 1:13pm
My PC doesn't have that option
