Why is Aloy always so angsty?
Everyone in her world is constantly struggling for survival but she's always complaining or wondering why she has to do things. She's always bothered by the rare other human being in the world helping her, or offering her advice. It seems that not just the people who drew her face, but also her writers, are all angsty children as well.

Well she is trying to save the world and others who are "struggling for survival" are constantly trying to stop her for their own benefits/traditions and not because of survival. Well Sylens help her for his benefits. Others who are trying to help often get hurt pretty fast. Not even mention crazy stuff she is doing in other views and i doubt she has time and patience to explain it all. Yes i don't like it that she was always pushing Varl and Erend even Petra away when they wanted to help but i could at least slightly understand it. I think?

She has knowledge that many would either reject or take too long to understand. To her everyone can seem like annoying children fighting amongst themselves when the world is literally going to end if something isn’t done soon. I imagine that would be pretty frustrating and the pressure of knowing that as well as knowing about the zero dawn project and the truth of it would be a lot on a person. Plus she grew up being treated like crap for simply existing so I mean there’s that.

I can’t think of a time where she’s rude to people that gives her help or advice. There are moments you can choose to be mean tho. She’s always openly appreciative to people who do help her so I don’t know what you’re talking about there.

She reminds me of Kingpin in terms of facial expressions and even spoken idiosyncrasies. I find her pretty calm and measured with the burden of responsibility on her shoulders (sorry Vincent).

I think the character writing might be a bit obscure for you, you should challenge yourself with a different persepctive, she doesn't seem angsty at all.

I will tell you this from experience mate, with 3 redheaded kids this is why :)

What am I missing. She's not "angsty". She's just got knowledge and a mission that very few people she meets would understand. She says it herself in dialogue, Rost wouldn't have understood much if anything about what's going on. Very much doubt the cook at Barren Light would either.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I like that part of her. Makes her not boring.

She has amassed vast amounts of knowledge compared to most. She is in a rush to fix things. She knows what she needs to do but other people with their delusional belief's keep getting in her way. Eventually, I'd get a bit annoyed as well. She isn't kind but she isn't cruel either. She is something inbetween. She is like a dark knight. Better than Batman tho. She actually makes a difference by killing all the bad guys.

Can't forget how she was treated as a child. Outcast, barely anyone to talk to. Something like that from that early in age will leave a permanent mark. She reminds me more of a wild animal than a person. Always keeping her guard up.

Another troll topic by someone who doesnt own the game supported by people who also dont own the game yet have fascinating knowledge and insight into a character they havent played and writers they dont know.

This all seems like people projecting their own shortcomings on game characters and makers.

She grew up an outcast. She wasn't allowed to talk to anyone but Rost for the first 18 years of her life. She's only 20 now. Her beliefs don't line up with all the others who grew up in tribes because she was raised by Rost and, to an extent, the Focus. She knows more about the old world than most people and she's doing what she can to prevent the current world from ending. Her beliefs are more rooted in the reality of the old world than tradition.

She was changed to be all about herself, she is the hero, the savior and no one else can help, even though that is a flat out lie.

Her upbringing doesn't excuse her attitude, its a choice, i mean in real life, despite growing up in an abusive family, you can either choose to be an abuser yourself or become someone that protects others from said abuse.......ie....its a choice.

The writers decided that she is the only one who can save Earth and all Humanity and no man can help her, though women can help, but not any men.....then she got ass handed to her, then her outlook changed....that is when i started to respect her.

She wasn't like this in Zero Dawn, i am guessing a certain group was the cause of this when the Forbidden West was being developed.

Apart from this idiotic attitude, the game and story is pretty decent.

I do suggest that they refrain from using that certain group in the future.

Aloy is pretty bitter about being outcast her entire life. I thought this was well established.

Asking why Aloy is jaded is like asking why Batman hates criminals. Did you pay attention at all to her story?
Viper Mar 28, 2024 @ 12:26pm
Non owner who has no idea about the game. ALoy helps everyone she meets.
Kingsleaze Mar 28, 2024 @ 12:31pm
I'd say its the writers trying to connect with their audience. Guess they didn't realize that angsty, negative, complaining, ugly gamers don''t like to play characters that are just like them. Too much like looking in a mirror.
