Wow I was enjoying the arena until the fixed load out rematch
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, can't even look at the garbage I have to suffer with against that snake. How the hell are you even supposed to USE the arrow rain garbage skill?

Agree.....freaking annoying to play those arena missions.
Especially since there are weapons which are garbage beyond any level. And you are forced to use them.

Yeah, no. They can keep the legendary equipment you can buy with the medals. I tried one arena and considered it a waste of time when I could be out in the world exploring. It’s another side effect of lets try to make everyone happy.

Its absolutely possible or they would not give you the weapons. Git Gud.

Just change to story mode difficulty for the arena fights, if you're not playing on ultra

"gut gud" comments are the most useless unconstructive waste of bit space on every forum.
Why do people still think they need to throw around these?

It's a puzzle. Figure out what order to use the special ammo you are given to kill the enemy toot sweet.

For the Slitherfang, first the talent skill for increased elemental effect, then frost arrows, then your choice of explosions or plasma bolts, then charge plasma to full, restock ammo, repeat until it dies. Unless you're REALLY bad at aiming stakes, you can do it with a minute or more to spare.

I am bad at aiming for specific parts, but I just now managed to beat this extremely frustrating Slitherfang on Hard difficulty. It took me two rounds of spamming plasma bolts followed by propelled spikes to the head, then scurrying around and keeping up the pressure with advanced hunter arrows while trying desperately not to die. I ignored traps and the other tricky weapons. 4 min 54 seconds.

The arena is an optional risk/reward activity that is best saved up for late- or endgame. This is not an uncommon practice in open-world AAA titles. The arena gear is some of the best in the base game, but nobody needs it to complete the story or anything else. The risks/requirements might seem unreasonable, but the awarded armor and weapons are pretty impressive if you know how to exploit their options.

Noelemahc correctly described the locked loadout fights as puzzles. The player is given what is necessary to beat the challenge, but doing so requires thinking about machine weaknesses, weapon advantages, and timing. It's not a matter of getting "gud" but rather working out how the pieces of the puzzle work.

On my NG+ run through I run out of ammo before I can kill the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thing haha. It's rapid moves and my shoddy aim were the end of me :P

Well done. I'm on Very Hard and I can waltz through all but these fixed loadout ones.

Between giant wallowing beasts that I can't escape from and gear I'm ♥♥♥♥ at using ... It doesn't go well :P

I don't like fixed loadout either, it feels like I'm playing someone else's savegame. I agree with what simmery said about it being a puzzle. BTW I noticed you can still craft ammo in the fixed fights, if the materials are there.

What killed the arena for me was the time limit, without it the arena could have been a lot more fun.

Yeah I know about the crafting - I just assumed it was normal.... but I still ran out on some fights lol.

There is a sequence I think needed on these tough fights to really make the lodout function in the time and with the beasts. Some things like the shredder I'm garbage with because I have so little practice.

With the giant bath duck bouncing all over me I also can't seem to get clear shots at anything.

I finally beat the Tideripper/Snapmaw fight on Hard (I am not trying anything harder until NG+). It was horrible, SO many attempts wasted because of getting endlessly juggled like that. I had to isolate and focus entirely on taking out the Tideripper. I think I froze it and used piercing spikes or arrows to destroy the sprayer parts, but I couldn't really aim well in a crunch and just got lucky this time. Radial shock valor surge when the Snapmaws came close, used the moment to critical strike the Tideripper. That didn't quite finish it though, but I forget what happened next. Multiple things exploded, and fortunately my Aloy wasn't one of them.
