Way, way, way, way too many weapons this time around.
Way, way way way too much weapon micro-management going on compared to the first one. I don't want a separate bow for each arrow type, I just want to be able to change ammo on the fly like in the original game, not have to play the mini-game of pausing and changing my load-out when fighting different enemies, this isn't fun, this is immersion destroying and time wasting. I understand that they can make the game longer by forcing the player to upgrade a bow 10 different times but I don't think I'm alone with the fact that no-one enjoys this.

Yeah this is freaking annoying.
Later on you will have some purple weapons with more ammo types but they will always have max 2 elements (very rarely 3). And i ended up finding weapons where the 2nd element was always corrosive. So i have now 3 corrosive bows in my weapon wheel.
I was doing this pause-goto menü - change weapon in loadout as well for a time.
The worst part is this issue will solve itself as soon you realize most weapons are useless in this game which were awesome in the 1st game. Like tripwire and ropecaster are totally waste of inventory space and as much as it hurts i stopped using them.

These kind of games you always end up just using a few weapons.

it's rather bloated I agree, unless they get buffed the majority of the weapons are kinda meh.

I wouldn't say totally useless. Playing on UH in an area with tight corridors, the tripwires came in very handy. Plant a bunch, lure, and bam.

It IS too many weapons, though. I feel the only reason so many weapons exist is for the sake of not having people whine that not enough weapons exist.

I never thought that there were too many weapons that it's impossible for me to choose a load-out and play with it. There certainly many weapons that do fill in a niche.

All in all, I guess it can be annoying for a minmaxxer, but the game isn't that hard to minmax to begin with.

Well you get 4 more weapon slots than HZD, too.
At least... I remember HZD only having 4 slots.

Anyways... only elemtal stuff to bother with is Frost; and Explosives if you don't need to farm stuff.

too many bad weapons with limited ammo types

it should be possible to customize weapons

as if that never existed before
agree! first game is better in every way.

I can't believe people are complaining about having too many weapons to choose from....what have gamers become these days?

yeah i preferred the way it was handled in zero dawn, on this i had a frost bow, shred bow to remove parts even tho i used easy loot, a ropecaster and a boltcaster were the main weapons i used regularly.

i had other weapons to vocer other elements of attacks but those were my daily drivers

It's because of artificially inflating the weapon selection to extend player duration. Why do we need several bows of the same type to get different kinds of arrows? The bows themselves should add a unique passive ability and you should be able to craft/ use any arrow for that type of bow. Plus they made certain weapon types useless or so niche in special use cases that it doesn't matter. I like the game, but personally I think the combat is a huge downgrade from the first game.

They often DO offer a passive ability...
- more stealth damage
- more knockdown damage
- more melee follow up damage
- more damage from longer distance...

I do agree there are excessive 'useless' bows, but that's much like the first game in that you go for your handful of weapons and just buy the others to either 'completionist' OR to just try them out to see if 'adhesive arrows' are actually worth your time.

I think the elemental damage, while not being unique or new, is much better than laying down 12 explosive tripwires and getting a thunderjaw to run after you and BOOM, one-shot.

"Artificially inflating?" What does this mean? The devs made it this way. People are going to play how they want, for however long they want. The different kinds of bows don't matter.

I like that there are so many different kinds of weapons and armor. HFW is about experimenting with different BUILDS (adhesive build, Sniper build, etc...).
