Distant objects still remain low poly, but no more 2D trees 100m away from camera
And I can't reproduce any of the mentioned problems in Plainsong. Fast traveling there from the spot in the video - that's as far away west as you can get - there are no washed out textures, no low polygon trees. Everything is fully loaded and sharp.
Direct Storage was mentioned here. That works ONLY on NVMe SSDs. Not on SATA SSDs and certainly not on HDDs. I have the game on an NVMe drive and Direct Storage is active and I have rather few pop-ins and not really any LOD issues. Pretty much the same with the Zero Dawn remaster.
https://github.com/microsoft/DirectStorage
SATA SSD are MUCH too slow for that, not to mention HDDs. The requirements for Direct Storage are an NVMe drive (or something even faster), DirectX 12 and a DX12 GPU that supports Direct Storage and at least Windows 10 version 1909.
You can check which drives support it with the Windows GameBar under settings (cogwheel icon), System information. There it lists all drives and if the system supports Direct Storage in general and on which drive(s). For me both Win10 as well as the game are on fast NVMe drives that support it.
As for pop-ins, yes there are some but it's not a big deal and mostly notable late in the game when you can fly high and fast across the map. I NEVER noticed any pop-outs. Neither now, with a 16GB RTX 4070 Ti Super, nor originally, when the game came out, with my old 8GB RTX 2070.
i should of made that video better, if you look down at the quen camp it shows lower quality and missing objects compared to ps5.
if you use nukems forbidden west cheat menu, putting the LOD slider to .666 was enough to match ps5 without touching the highquality zone, and medium quality zone.
Checked, there's no system info tab. Tried googling supported drives list, found nothing.
Then you need to look better or wear glasses. No offence intended. People with super expensive top tier hardware reported this bug several times and I myself noticed a lot of visible popping and straight up non-loaded assets i.e. blurry 2D sprites and low poly geometry. Disk cache mod from Nexus decreases the quantity of low poly models to some extent. Take your bird and land on the top of a satellite dish where Utaru tribe settled. Look around and you'll see a lot of ugly low res sprite trees at distance.
If you're curious my specs are 3060 12gb, 8700k 4,6ghz, 2x8gb 3466 cl17 and a up to 2,7gb/s nvme. Settings are all high or maximum.
