Machine design really need some second-thought feat. Clamberjaw
Clamberjaw is just such a bad machine design. I have not finish the game but I believe this is the worst.

- It is a medium machine but had the size of a small machine.
- All the components are very, if not extremely, small. Goggle and ear as 2 parts....even the tail are split and the middle part is not counted as tail component.
- Almost whole body covered in armor.
- First time saw it, there is already apex version.
- Moves incredibly fast and keep moving.
- Move crazy long distant. That consecutive long jump back and forth covers more range than a thurderjaw moves.
- Insane AOE range attack with multiple rounds and very high damage. I play on VH so high damage is natural but that AOE spam...
- AOE melee.....sign, already got used to HFW machines spamming AOE so this one fine..
- appears in groups and with other machines. One is annoying enough and there is often two or three and more with a mix of apex and non-apex variant which have different elemental affinity.

The size, the range AOE, the melee....clamberjaw has the same attacks as leaplasher but pumped full of adrenaline.

You set traps or tripwire, they spam AOE range attack. You melee them, they jump high and stay in the air to skip your whole melee charge attack and slap you in the face. You try to shoot them, they keep running and jumping non-stop.

Honestly, fighting multiple thurderjaw feels easier. At least the components and targets are big and moves or charges have longer preparation.

There is no fun in fighting a clamberjaw, or more realistically clamberjaws. They have few components to shot at and most are very small and hide behind armor and keep moving making them almost impossible to hit.

They are easily deadlier than high level apex machines. Killing it with brute force like explosion or cold + precision arrow on anywhere you can hit is pretty much the only way of effectively killing it. They offer so little value to your reward and fun at a very very high cost that I simply do not want to face them instead of wanting to try my skill on them like strombird or thurderjaw.

This is complain but more importantly do not want another Horizon game has such poor design enemy.

what is your thought? agree? no?

They are the most frustrating machine in the main game. The waterwings in the dlc are even more ridiculous as they have more hp than a thunderjaw plus a ton of armor, and they aggro nearby waterwings too!

It smells like you don't use Sharpshoot bows or Reflex shots. I haven't yet finished my 100% playthrough to go for higher difficulties, but on normal there is little difficulty on shooting off the tail (it wags it when directly facing you, and with Reflex you can shoot and hit it mid-jump too) and on a decently upgraded Hunter bow, takes two or three overdraw shots at most to detach.

And if you absolutely completely need to demolish them quickly, spears absolutely wreck them, especially explosive ones.

Haven't encountered the clamberjaw yet but then I've only just set out for Poseidon.

I have been loving the machines so far, other than the 'kangaroo' one, seems kinda silly and pointless but I think they have an excellent ability (trying not to throw out any spoilers).

I'll consider myself warned, thank you!

Well you haven't met Slaughterspire, the one that looks like spinosaurus, which I think is the worst designed machine of all.

first it looks more biological than mechanical, it has these huge fore-limbs which are of no function but to make it look more like a creature, I definitely don't think an AI would prioritize aesthetics over resource-saving.

it also has these very small weakpoints and parts, and it's constantly shaking its body, making it very hard to aim. Moreover, you can shoot a total of ELEVEN heavy weapons off from its body, that's obviously excessive and meaningless.

Which fits prefect within the Lore.
Hephaestus started making killer and guard machines to combat the humans killing "his" machines. And after the "maddening" the creations went overboard with even more deadly machines.

the important part is fighting against supposedly high tier attack machine like thurderjaw felt so much easier than fighting clamberjaw.

I agree with the OP about Clamberjaws, and all the other machines that bounce around like yo-yos. It's not much fun when they won't sit still for even a second.

I'd much rather take on a Thunderjaw or Tremortusk.

That... was not my experience at all. Makes me really wonder what types of weapons you're using, and whether you're utilizing elemental effects, etc.

Seeing how you mentioned traps/melee in your original post, that may very well be your problem.
