crashing 5 minutes into play

Roughly every 5 minutes of playtime - time spent loading doesn't matter - the game crashes my entire computer. I have above recommended specs, but it does this even on Very Low settings.
I cleared my shaders cache and upped it to maximum (Radeon only does 4gb).
I rebooted Steam and verified files.
I rebooted my computer.
I disabled every app's overlay.
I ran as administrator.
I ran in Win8 compatibility mode.
I ran with -dx11 and -dx12 commands.

Nothing I do allows me to play longer than 5 minutes. I'm still stuck on the tutorial.

He means a hard crash, rather than the game just crashing his whole PC becomes unresponsive.

In my experience, crashes like that are usually RAM related.

I'll try and allocate more RAM, thanks, hadn't checked how HFW was drawing.

Hard-crashes of PC's is rarely software-related. Does it get enough air so it doesnt overheat? Does it get enough power during stress? If no then the pc will shut itself down. Maybe some components not working properly like the Ram. Play with an overlay (HWMonitor is good) to see if anything spikes/temps okay etc before crashing.

I recommend doing stress-tests of the system, there are various free monitor-programs for each component (ram,gpu, cpu)

Yeah, there's vents all over and it's blowing cold air out - it's overheated in the past so I keep a watch out for that. Running Prime95 test right now, will give HWMonitor a go once that's done.
edit: ran it an hour and while it bumped me to 97% CPU and memory at its peak, had no issues. Fingers crossed!
edit2: not really sure how to make it be an "overlay" because I can't run my game and have it display at the same time, and I can't find options for that

Same here with RTX 3080 (12gb), Intel i5-12600KF, 32gb RAM. After 5-10 mins in game (not in main menu) my pc crashes like you described it.

i7 6700k, 32gb ram, 3060 12gb and I ran for around 12 hours no problem - but it did glitch out and task manager couldnt find the pid to end the task. So, I had to reboot but didnt loose any progress

Same problem here. Game crashing right after cutscene or dialog. I just reinstalled the game but problem persist.

I have the same issue as you and I have pretty decent specs/brand new pc (1.5 weeks old).

FYI: None of the fixes worked.
The only thing that changed: After the tutorial section (when you leave Meridian) the crashes seem to slow down to once every hour or so. Another friend also experienced the same.
Before that point, I experienced crashes to desktop every 5-20 minutes. I also did get one BSOD and 1 game freeze (having to manually stop the game).

The initial part of the game is a tutorial until you reach the actual game song/game entry cut scene with the game name/etc. If you havent reached that point (past Meridian) then try to get to that point if you can and see if it makes a difference.

At the least, its just PLAYABLE since I get an hour or so before it crashes.

Heres a copy of my own post. There are multiple suggestions from people there.
If you get a chance to upload a ticket to Sony/PS (listed in the "support" post thats pinned in these forums), the Nixxes devs asked for that. (of course they did)

I now played about 2h without any crash. It's a riddle, I absolutely don't know why it works now. It runs very smoothly and looks gorgeous. Maybe you have to pass some point in game like @Salty said, perhaps something didn't load properly, and it only worked after x loading cycles or what ever? I watched the first cutscene about 15 times, tried to change settings and so on, and one time I could play a few seconds, but my PC crashed again. At least I did not have to watch it again because now it started right after the cutscene. I loaded it a 2. time, but the only thing a changed before that was to set Privacy Settings to "full Data" (but I really don't think that has anything to do with it). What ever, I think something hasn't loaded properly or something. Just try to get over the first cutscene? Idk...

OffTopic: I encountered a bug, I could not change the "Tab" Key, it always opened the map even it wasn't assigned to it.

Yeah even after their "crash fix" update I have the same issues. I literally only just now defeated the Scrounger and it *still* crashes in less than 10 minutes. Sent a support request.
You'd think a $60 supposedly-AAA game wouldn't be this unplayable.
