Fast travel question

I am going to various campfires, and making sure I activate them by quicksaving and then manually saving. From what I've read, I should be able to then fast travel to those fires without using a pack. I bring up my map, try to fast travel to the fire, but it wants to charge me a pack to do so.

Am I missing something here?

It’s only free I believe if you fast travel to another camp fire if you are already at a camp fire

You must be in the campfire to actually use this feature (aka there is a button that appears, below the manual save)

I don't understand what you mean by this.

To clarify, on reading the other responses - I need to be at one campfire, in order to fast travel to another campfire....?

If you don't want to use a fast-travel pack? yeah

At a campfire, there is a prompt to fast travel, and if you use that prompt, it is free.

You can also ALWAYS fast travel from anywhere to the Base, just by opening the map - you don't have to use a campfire to fast travel to the Base for free.
