Cutscenes with character models are incredibly laggy!
Playing on a 3070Ti with High settings at 1440p. Game runs at a buttery smooth 70fps however in cutscenes with more than two people result in the frames dropping to like 30fps. Not sure if there's a setting to help this?

I'm having the same issue. Trying to figure it out. My specs are a bit older (not that much, just not the newest of the new) so I chalked it up to that. Don't see many others talking about it, so my guess is its a hardware issue or driver issue, or something along those lines. Seems to specifically be happening on open, well lit areas during cutscenes, but is fine when the scene zooms in on a character.

I may have a fix - on the launch options, click on NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency and enable "On + Boost" instead of just "On". Significant performance increase I've found!

Digital foundry had a video on this yesterday speaking on 8gb cards having stuttering and issues with cutscenes due to the system going over the 8gb vram limit and dipping into sys ram with settings on high. Sometimes it recovers when you are back in gameplay, sometimes not.

Try lowering textures below high and see if this remedies the issue, if not, well I'm fresh out of ideas.

didn't seem to work for me, just lowered settings across the board a bit and its fine now. I think maxed out is just pushing my older card (2070) too hard. oh well, game still looks great on mid-high settings.

I've been having the same issue with a 2070 Super, 16GB RAM, and a Ryzen 7 3700X. Only results I found was about the DualShock controllers causing issues but Im using an Xbox One controller with a bluetooth dongle so that SHOULDN'T be the issue but Ill try later with just my M&K. Ive messed around with all of the settings and nothing really helps, I'm even playing it on Medium-Balanced. Hopefully as time goes on we hear more about issues and how to fix them. At the start of the game it wasnt so bad but I just had a huge dialogue scene (dont wanna post details on what scene to avoid spoilers) and I swear the frames dropped to like 10 FPS and then the fight after the conversation was so laggy that I actually died (playing on normal difficulty). Ive loved playing so far but if every cinematic/dialogue is going to be like this it's really gonna turn me off from this game which will be a huge bummer with how excited I was to finally play it.

Having the same issue with a 3080. Tried lowering the texture quality and the resolution to their lowest but it had no impact on performance. Something tells me there is some process that is going wrong and it's not just supposed to be this demanding during cutscenes.

sounds like we run similar set ups: 2070SUPER, 32G RAM, Ryzen7 3800x

im on M&K so its not a controller thing. I do think its just a hardware deal unfortunately. only people i have seen with this issue so far are us with the older series GPUs. for my fix, I just lowered the graphics preset to medium, and made a few minor tweaks to things I wanted to be on High. It has resolved the issue entirely, which is why I can't see it being anything other than hardware. And quite honestly, i can hardly tell any difference at all in terms of visual quality. I would give that a try and see if it helps.

the texture Quality and Res are usually not the largest performance factors. Try lowering your preset settings a level or 2, until you find the setting with good performance, and then up the settings for textures and what not little by little til you find the happy place.

Also what are the rest of your specs? because you could have a 3080, but like 8GB RAM and a 20 year old processor for all we know lol.

I have tried setting all graphical settings to their lowest possible value and it had no effect on the FPS.

Editing to mention that lowering the settings does improve game FPS but not cutscene FPS. Game runs perfectly smooth outside of cutscenes and dips to 10-20 FPS during them. As soon as the cutscene ends it goes back to running smoothly

I have 32 GB of RAM and an Intel Core i7-10700K CPU

While I have an 3070 I had/have the same issue.
After enabling reflex and boost I got around 10 fps in game but not in the cutscenes.
After playing a bit, I closed the game and have just gotten back in.
Seeing a 30-50fps increase in game and 20-40 fps in the cutscenes.
So there is still a dip in the fps but not nearly the same.
So tldr restart the game after making changes to the settings, seems like it is needed.

So I dont know what fixed it (so far) but I restarted my PC and tried it on M&K and no issues in the same cutscene and subsequent fight. I then tried it with my controller plugged in and again, no issues. I'm sure its a hardware issue but I cant pinpoint what. My only theory is that maybe it caches? The longer you play without restarting the worse it gets? Dragon Age Origins did something similar with looting where if you didnt restart your game, lootable corpses would take longer and longer to become available. My big dumb dino brain is just grasping at straws at this point but for the time being I dont have the same issue as I did before.

I suspect you're on to something. It reminds me of the memory leak issue Cyberpunk 2077 had for sometime on PC where the longer you played the laggier opening the map would be. At some points you'd get just 4fps while on the map in the game. Hopefully it is something that can be patched soon if it truly is something on their end.

I just posted a whole separate discussion about how I fixed mine, but here it is.
the main culprits for me were the Lens Flare and Chromatic Aberrations. I turned both of those off, and dropped the sharpness to 0, and the problem is gone. idk about anyone else, but the cutscene lag for me was specifically when there was a wider shot, showing a larger area and/or multiple characters in frame, and was especially bad when there was any type of direct sunlight in the scene. there was almost like too much glare on the character edges, so i turned off those settings and the problems gone.

hope this helps.

Unfortunately, didn't work for me. Going to have to keep trying out different settings or wait for a patch.
