RTX HDR is better than Native HDR
As title.
Am I the only one who think that RTX HDR works much better than Native HDR in this game?

I don't even know what RTX HDR is. Just running the in game HDR and it looks good.

HDR is broken, unfortunately.

Its paper white that adjusts peak brightness. And adjusting max brightness does nothing. 1000 nits paper white is 1000 nits peak brightness. I have measured it.

It looks very washed out.

I hope they fix it soon.

Huh... the default slider settings look good to me though (LG C2 Oled). Definitely looks very similar to what I remember on the PS5.

Oh sick, thanks for the info. I've heard RTX HDR works well now that it's out. I'll give it a shot.

Some say RTX HDR does hurt performance though.
10-20%

Is this a 4000 series only thing? Not seeing anything that says RTX HDR on my 3080ti...

Download the new Nvidia app, you can enable it from there.

As I said Nvidia users can widely improve the HDR quality by enabling RTX HDR and disabling the in game HDR

For me, on my LG C1, my Windows calibrated profile and a Paper White of 100 seems to look perfectly fine in HDR, contrasty and bright where needed. I would never call this washed out so I'm wondering what issue others are having with their version.

The game doesn't output more than 300 nits, that is the issue. It has already been fixed with mods but best to wait for a patch

Yea, same on my C2 which I also played the PS5 version on as well. Gonna try the RTX HDR just to see if it's any different, better/worse...

The HDR implementation on PC is identical to the PS5 regarding quality.
I compared them on the same monitor. (Samsung G9 OLED screen in HDR1000 mode).

The settings names differ however:

On the PS5 having a HDR system calibration of 1000 nits max, 0 for min and having 4 brightness, 5 highlights, -5 shadows in-game HDR produces the same results as on PC with

WIn11 calibration tool set to 1000 nits max, 0 min
Max nits 1000, 400 Paper White, +5 for highlights and +5 for shadows in-game HDR menu.

Switching between PS5 and PC the results are identical. You can see some values are flipped between the PS5 and PC and a bit renamed but they do the exact same thing and more importantly they work the same :)

I suspect a lot of the people complaining have no idea what actual HDR is supposed to look like and think that an absurdly bright and colorful image is what its goal is.
