Error message: "This game requires a CPU that supports F16C commands"
I have an "Intel i7-3930".
CPU-World writes: "The CPU includes NO AVX2, F16C and FMA3 instructions"!
It's over 10 years old, but I've never had any problems with it!!!
The first part of Horizon also went great!
I'll probably have to give the game back!

Just tested the unofficial patch. And to my surprise the i7 2600k runs it at above 60 fps. Incredible. Sandy bridge is litterally immortal.

I got the same CPU, and with the unofficial patch that get rid of the F16C requirement, the game runs at 60 fps.

And there we have it. It runs at above 60 fps with the old legendary sandy bridge i7 2600k. Devs should be able to release an official fix.

"They removed AVX before!"
The didn't need to remove f16c before, though. Your request is different this time.

Still requires AVX with that "patch" from an unverified site.

You would have been better off upgrading the CPU first. A high end CPU with a mid-range GPU is way better than a low end CPU with a high end GPU. Smoother frametimes and less stutters.
There's no such exaggeration...frametimes and stutters may indeed be slightly inferior to the new CPU in some situations and scenes, but the overall effect is still good in 4K-8K resolution, Perhaps it's because I rarely play games with high CPU requirements
It does not matter if game is CPU demanding or not, it still have massive impact.

2600k vs 12900k on 2080ti, anything between 50-150% faster with 12900k and it will be much worse on 4090.
Also even 12900k is already 2 generations old and 14900k or 7800x3d with 4090 can beat it by 20-30%.

Its not only cpu clock that matter, but IPC improvements, latency improvement and as well memory speed/llatency/bandwith can have massive impact too.

There's a "patch" on a site that also hosts protected and cracked content. Go there if that's your thing, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Be aware that it still requires AVX and is known to have bugs caused by excising f16c code, and as an executable from such a shady site, you're putting yourself at risk.

Don't expect the developers to try to do the same. Come into the '20s already.

i7 4770k 4.2 Ghz 16Gb ram, CPU bottleneck in villages, but still a decent experience with a 3060Ti

The more people roaming around those villages or mechs roaming the country side, the more taxing the CPU. That 2600k will not do any favours unless your game is much, much more reliant on your GPU only

Those boss fights with a lot of moving parts in the back ground is gonna suck

I'm on this site for more than 10 years, can confirm it's a great and perfectly safe site, pretty popular one in Russia actually, especially for downloading mods.

i have that patch and there is only one problem with that patch while they are talking mouths are closed. fps and everything is good no lagging too.
I'm sure it will be fixed.

I fit uses those instructions then its going to stay using them. Trying to hack them out will mess up the game. They tell you when you buy the game it requires a CPU with that instruction set.SO people are warned if they have an older CPU don't buy it. You want them to spend a bunch of money to make the game run worse.

This video stands as a proof of concept and as a protest, against the mandatory F16C requirement for this game to run.

@devs please give as a clean AVX1 fallback solution for these cpus. It's a matter of principle. Leaving sandys out of gaming, is sacrilegious for the PC ecosystem.

I can bet you, that this 2700k, could run the game at 60fps easily. It is a shame for this system's accompanying GTX 1070 too. It also seems very capable.

Quoting myself as a reminder.

Here is my new run on the Sandy Bridge 2700k, with the no F16C patch. non monetized channel, just for fun. This also is a proof of concept. A concept that implies, that a cpu with technology from January 2011, can run this AAA game just fine. Ok it has some difficulties at some points, but overall, for an essentially PS3 era platform, I'm damned impressed. The run is 95% gpu limited by the GTX 1070 mind you....

This video is dedicated to the people who made the patch, to the people that announced it in this thread and to the devs of course, for an otherwise very good port. Please remove the F16C requirement. You have mentioned what are the min specs. Let users decide what is best for them please.

Achievement Unlocked: ENTITLEMENT +1

You want the devs to gimp the >95% of us that owns a CPU that is newer than 11 years old? Cause that what is sounds like. This is a great port and the requirements are quite reasonable, a CPU that is 6 generations old.

Then there are all the backseat developers, just untick a box, remove AVX2, remove F16C, etc, and then what? You want the devs to use ancient instruction sets? Just because you choose to use an ancient piece of tech?

Minimum requirements are there for a reason.

It's cool that the modding community found a work around but people demanding official support for such ancient hardware SMH. I Really don't understand such entitled mentality.
