I have an "Intel i7-3930".
CPU-World writes: "The CPU includes NO AVX2, F16C and FMA3 instructions"!
It's over 10 years old, but I've never had any problems with it!!!
The first part of Horizon also went great!
I'll probably have to give the game back!

I also can't have Widows 11, which is less of a shame.
I think the problem comes from porting XBox(?) to PC.
Only you can know whether it is worthwhile for the developer to implement a software solution!
And for the chatterboxes here: My system with i7-3930, TitanX graphics card, 32GB, two 4T SSDs and water-cooled is certainly still more powerful than what most of you have!
And just for one game, I won't buy a new system!

Dual GPUs are dead now and not supported nowdays... Even JayZ gave up this...
And I had once i5 3570k, nicely overcloked, but it wasn't good enough for modern games, especially Ubisoft ones... And even cheap Ryzen R5 2600 was MUUUUCH better! Now Ryzen 5600x, and I have zero bottleneck in 1440p.

And it was always natural that if you want to play modern games, you need to upgrade hardware from time to time... If you compare Doom from 90's (it required 4MB RAM!!!) and modern Doom from 2016 you will see difference and reason why upgrade is needed!

You want the devs to gimp the >95% of us that owns a CPU that is newer than 11 years old? Cause that what is sounds like. This is a great port and the requirements are quite reasonable, a CPU that is 6 generations old.

Then there are all the backseat developers, just untick a box, remove AVX2, remove F16C, etc, and then what? You want the devs to use ancient instruction sets? Just because you choose to use an ancient piece of tech?

Minimum requirements are there for a reason.

I said "all the backseat developers" in which I was referring to others not just yourself. Heck the first reply in this thread is "REMOVE AVX INSTRUCTIONS".

I don't think it's so simple, I suspect that patch that removes "F16C" does a lot more than removing just a check. Because even if you remove the check you'll still need the required instruction sets to actually run the game. Then the devs will get flooded with all these complaints again.

Yes unfortunately reality can be harsh. If a game requires something and a person lacks the required hardware to run the game. You can't really expect much but hope that modders can thinker and hopefully come up with some workaround. Aside from that all they can do is play another game that supports their hardware.

I made a quick video with my Sandy Bridge i7-2700k, running the game with Intel's SDE (non monetized-hobbyist channel). It runs, but it is unplayable, as all games that are run like that.

This video stands as a proof of concept and as a protest, against the mandatory F16C requirement for this game to run.

@devs please give as a clean AVX1 fallback solution for these cpus. It's a matter of principle. Leaving sandys out of gaming, is sacrilegious for the PC ecosystem.

I can bet you, that this 2700k, could run the game at 60fps easily. It is a shame for this system's accompanying GTX 1070 too. It also seems very capable.

Here is my new run on the Sandy Bridge 2700k, with the no F16C patch. non monetized channel, just for fun. This also is a proof of concept. A concept that implies, that a cpu with technology from January 2011, can run this AAA game just fine. Ok it has some difficulties at some points, but overall, for an essentially PS3 era platform, I'm damned impressed. The run is 95% gpu limited by the GTX 1070 mind you....

This is the first time I see a game requiring F16C, my old CPU is overclocked with water cooling, and I never needed to upgrade it for many years. I can play the newest games without any particular problem (1080p 60fps, still not upgraded to 4K monitor, my old eyes are not going to notice any difference anyway).

I tested with a patched EXE, I think it just "removes" F16C of the EXE and keeps the rest untouched, the game can be played normally, at playable fps, but the facial animations are lost.

You wouldnt ebe able to run this game wiht any gpu you put into that cause your bottlenecked anyway...

Why is it entitlement if you can simple pay 250 for an upgraded that outperforms your old CPU combination?

If you have it tight, then gaming isnt for you. There's no old hexacores without this instruction set. The FX lines arnt octo or hexacores.

$60 dollar game.... if u can buy it, u can upgrade your cpu. it your mobo does not support a proper cpu, u have been slacking on upgrades far too long... how many games have u bought over the years and neglected upgrading the system u play on? its like someone complaining about not affording rent but they make payments on a brand new car. u cant do it backwards and expect the world to wait for u to catch up

Dude, you want to play games, upgrade your PC! Simple. When in 1994 I wanted to play Doom I needed to buy 2 MEGA more RAM to have total of 4MB RAM! And no one cried, that for Wolfestein 3D 2MB RAM was enough, but for NEW DOOM, NOT! 😛

Oh and back then, 2MB cost like 50$...
