Linux Compatabilty 10/10.
For the Linux crowd, it runs out the box, 10/10. This is exactly why I try to purchase every Sony game that gets released. Worth every penny.

Arch Linux
Linux Kernel 6.8.1-zen1-1-zen
AMD Ryzen 9 5950x 16 Core 32 thread, CPU
Ryzen RTX 4090 24GB OC Ed GPU

Thanks man. Once in a life time rig, took me a few years to save up and configure because i'm poor AF lol. But it was cool to be able to say I had a near "state of the art" rig at least once in my life time 0_o.

needless to say, sacrifices were made lol!
I should note that this worked FLAWLESSLY with my Dual Sense PS5 Controller, as to be expected. Righteousssssssss|

It would seem that Windows users are encountering issues while using the officially supported Dual Sense PS5 Controllers.

It warms my heart to finally be able to say this.

Windows may have a lack of controller support, therefore you may encounter compatibility issues. It's a half baked (and malware infested) Operating system. Consider superior alternatives, like Linux <3

Yup, it runs out of the box on Linux, I had preloaded the game, it started with a small download and it ran without any problems. Although there was a crash report which got generated after I quit, so I ran it again just to make sure everything was fine.

I get a notification when launching that my driver is out of date (it's not) but upon proceeding it's been a legit out the box experience. I can't tell you how pumped I am to finally have this game at my finger tips!
Refuses to start for me with a complaint about "DirectX 12 not detected". Can you share a bit more specs?
Steam version
Proton version number
Nvidia driver version

I installed it on Ubuntu 23.10 (64bit) with Proton Experimental, startup brought an error -> cannot find display adapter, after entering the little start menue settings it showed my 4060, i disabled upscaling and vsync. i tried every anti aliasing setting.
Starting to main menue - new game, waiting for shader compl., intro video startet after 1-2 min pc video froze with blackscreen, hard reset needed.
After skipping the video, i could play for a view minutes than it froze again.

system:
ASUS ROG STRIX X570-F GAMING
AMD Ryzen 5800X3D
ASUS NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 8GB
driver: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 550.54.14
resolution: 3840 x 2160
Samsung 28" 4K monitor on display port
32 GB G-Skill 4000 MHz
Samsung SSD 980 1TB NVME M.2
Steam-Version: 1709846872

i tried Proton 8.x, 9.0 beta, Experimental
and nvdia driver 545.x much worse

Arch Linux
Kernel: 6.8.1-zen1-1-zen (optimized kernel for workstation/gaming ect)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950x 16 core 32 thread @4.1GHz
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4090 24GB OC
GPU Driver: NVIDIA 550.54.14
RAM : 128GB

I use nvidia-dkms because i'm lazy.

If you'r having DX12 not detected issue you can install that through winetricks.

Though with GE-Proton8-32 I don't seem to share this issue. I'm notified my GPU driver is out of date, but clicking ok just launches the game anyway without issue.

Steam Beta Branch: Steam Beta Update
Steam Version: 1710786209

Toss Steam into Beta mode, it has resolved a few issues I've encountered with a couple games. Realized this after doing so fixed an issue launching Conan Exiles for me. Been using Beta ever since.

Thanks for the suggestions.

For complete openness, I've been using standard steam on Debian Trixie using the standard Debian NVIDIA package from experimental (535.161), using normal kernel and xanmod. Tried steam beta -> no effect, messed with winetricks a bit but could not find the correct option (probably too old).

In the end, I uninstalled all debian nvidia proprietary packages and installed the driver from the nvidia website. This fixed the issue for me (now using 550.67 from the nvidia website).

Thanks again, and happy hunting.

Glad you got things squared away! Yeah the official proprietary drivers from the AUR are all that I'm using (nvidia-dkms) and I have the vulkan-icd-loader packages installed so to enable some of the RTX features.

Happy hunting! This game's sooooo good if you're a fan of the original!
unfortunatelly after months of working nice - I started to get this error. Anyone knows what to do with it? Message: This game requires Windows 10 operating system in version 20H2 (OS build 19042.789) or greater

Yes. Enable proton.
What Proton Hotfix works best for HFW?

Experimental or GE work 100% for me.
