Don't Forget to (Optionally) Link Your Steam Account and PSN Account for Bonus Items

Nora Legacy Outfit and Nora Spear* (available only when linking your Steam account to PlayStation Network)

As confirmed by dev's in a posting some time ago, once you actually have the game, you will have access to the option to link your Steam and PSN accounts to get access to these two bonus items.

These two bonus items are largely cosmetic - the stats certainly are only mediocre compared to what you can acquire in-game. If you personally don't want to link your Steam and PSN accounts, simply don't.

We don't have the instructions yet on how to link the accounts. Presumably the option will become visible when you are able to launch the game on PC.

I do have the pre-order bonus, and that bonus is listed as a DLC for the game in my Steam app. If you happen to NOT have the pre-order bonus, then I could hazard a guess that either by purpose or by mistake, maybe linking the PSN account is only offered if you have the pre-order bonus?

Option to connect to PSN doesn't appear for me either in the menu.

At this point I started searching for some help, found this discussion and noticed the comment about restarting your system. So I tried that. Launched Steam, launched the game, still no option for linking accounts!

Tried changing Privacy Settings from Full to Limited and restarted the game. Finally! There was the option to link my Playstation Network account to my Steam account sitting right between the Accessibility and Extras menu options! Selected the option, followed the instructions and, upon returning to the game there was a window informing me that I now have access to the Nora Legacy Outfit and Nora Spear! Only took some 45+ minutes to get that sorted!

So, to clarify, what finally worked for me was the following:
restart the system
launch Steam
launch the game
change the Privacy Settings
exit and restart the game

Maybe this will help others who are also having problems with getting that option to show up!

Can you be a bit more precise on how you changed the privacy settings?? As i m eager to get those items

The game's Privacy Settings can be changed in the Settings -> General section. Should be the third option down.

I want to clarify one point: The game doesn't care about your privacy settings in Steam. The issue is something else, as can be seen through the analysis of the game's network activity. Forbidden West connects to Sony servers upon launch and, if no response is received, the menu option doesn't appear. You can easily test my statement by launching the game without internet access – there will be no link menu option in-game. In other words, the only reason for not having a menu option, but then it appears after several restarts, is that Sony's servers are congested and sometimes don't provide a positive response.

Please be patient and restart the game several times. It is recommended with a pause of at least 10 minutes. And the menu option will appear. Enjoy the game, everyone!

Obviously the Privacy Settings in Steam have nothing to do with the game! We're referencing Sony's Privacy Settings from within the game itself. Remember that bit that pops up the first time you run the game and you are asked to choose between either "Limited Data" or "Full Data"? Whatever choice you make on the games first launch can be changed at anytime from the games Settings -> General menu. Some players have noticed that changing that setting and then restarting the game can "force" the menu option to link accounts to show up.

I pre-purchased the game, played it day one, no option. I managed to get through the tutorial, and up to where you meet Studious Vuadis.

Since then I have rebooted the computer (for something unrelated), and have just now boooted the game, and the option to "Connect to Playstation Network" is available.

Also note: I have the "Limited data" option selected in Privacy Settings

TLDR: Play the tutorial through, save game, exit, close Steam completely, re-open Steam, then game, option SHOULD be there for you

You can access your bonus items from any stash within the game AFTER completing the first two quests and arriving in The Daunt. Easiest would be the stash in Chainscrape.

One question.. I started the game on my local pc without being connected to my PSN account. My gf played HFW on PS4 and we want to know if she is able to continue the game with the burning shores on my pc without removing my game.. 😅
