Will this run ok on Steam Deck?
The original runs well enough at native steam deck resolution and around 40fps. Will Horizon Forbidden West?

The og was a game from 2017 the latter is from 2022. I think you already know the answer.
I would rather wait for confirmation but you might need to upgrade to this rumored stronger steam deck v2 or just play on PC.

This game is on PS4, so it'll probably run on the deck.

However, this is a crossgen game, as it was released for PS4, as well. It should run fine.

Game was designed with the PS4 in mind as well, it should probably run as well as God of War.

Honestly I think you will have to run this at low settings compared to the original, because I think they are porting over the ps5 version since the expansion was ps5 only. And this one will likely require to be installed on the internal ssd.

It all deppends on how much Guerrilla will invest into this port.
Because, these games are not made on Unreal Engine so they need to literally come with the graphics settings and the smart solutions to optimize the code for PC. the more they do, the better the game will run.

For example: I can run RE4R at a very high graphics setting on 30fps because of how good and well optmized the game is for PC.
If Guerrilla gives the ♥♥♥♥ you button for the game though, I doubt it will work.

Remember: It's not about when the game was released or what platform it was using or how powerful the PS5 is. It's about optimization. This game is beautiful and well optimized for PS4, that's why the DLC not running on PS4 is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

A good optimized port will run even on a GTX 1060, if they do it well, since I can produce better graphics and quallty than my PS4 with my current setup in games like Resident Evil 4 Remake.

So yeah, let's hope Guerrilla works their ass off to make this port a good port, because if they go the FF7 Remake route, I will be worried.

I also don't think this will be as bad of a pc launch compered to TLOU: Remake on the pc, but I'm hoping they improve compared to the original's pc release even though I wasn't there at the time since I didn't have the steam deck till after its launch since I heard there was some pc issues with the original.

PS4 version was made for PS4, the PC port will be based on the PS5 version. So no, it will not run as well as God of War. Also, the DLC was made exclusively for PS5.

The game will be ported by Nixxes Software. The studio was last responsible for the ports of Spiderman and Ratchet & Clank (also a ps5 title). Both ports were more than solid. So I am very confident that the game will run on the Steam Deck.

It all depends on how good port it will be...
