It's about restoring the group's Power, what other games would call Mana or MP.

Well...I did. A healer restores health, a controller restores Power. Not much more to it than that. There's also some debuffs you can use, but in a raid, people would prefer you focus on restoring power so the healers can heal people more.

READ THE POWERS. the description tells you what it does in each role.
Pettanko Angel 4. juni 2013 kl. 19.11
oh ok
Ekart 5. juni 2013 kl. 6.46
Controller restores groups power (mana), makes three types of debuffs on enemys (heal, armor, attack) and ocasionly stuns enemys or puts them in panic mode. So it's not only restoring power like writen above, but it is much more, and in Raids without a proper troll the group can wipe.

As F2P you have two powersets for controllers Mental and Gadget if you subscribe to Legendary membership or buy the Fight for the Light and Origin Crisis you get two more (Hard Light - Lanterns & Quantum).

I hate being a controller. No one respects you at all. At least in pugs. Everyone blows power faster then you can recharge your own, and get mad at you. I say ♥♥♥♥ em. But now I just play a healer. If you can stick with it, and be in groups that allow you to be more then just a battery, trolling is awesome, but now people only want you to be a battery. And being just a battery is boring.

And yet it's pretty much all you can do as healer...

Derp that is what a healer is. A troll you know controls things. Its the playstyle your comeback failed on.

I'm saying what you're complaining about being forced to do as a controller, is basically the same as the only thing a healer can do. The only real difference is the stat being restored.

And for the record, if the healer doesn't have power, the group dies. Raiding 101 right there.

And i am telling you a controller has a different playstyle then what a healer does. And I am complaining because a non battery is not an expected part of a group. You are expected to be a power battery. IF I WANT TO PLAY A BAR RAISER FOR A GROUP I WILL PLAY A HEALER AS I SAID!!!! AND WHAT I DO NOW. Do you understand that now?

I don't need to know your records.
If the tank dies it is a wipe. If a healer dies it is a wipe. More non needed 101 right there too.

Controller actually comes from the term "Crowd Control", as in using powers that affect large groups of enemies and their actions. So, say what you will, but I personally made a kick-a$$ controller who's also like a DPS, so while I'm feeding power out to my group im also using mental powers to cause dozens of enemies to stun, panic in fear, get rooted or encased, etc, and many of those attacke are AOE, so more often than not I'm integral to the group wading through swarms of enemies.
In raids I'm usually in the top 3 for damage out AND 1-2 for power out at the same time, and I like it that way actually. Only downside is that I depend on a good Tank to keep enemies off me since all the damage out tends to agro. Still, I feel like I'm leading the team cause I do the most to make it easier for the group to do what they do. Surprisimgly I also am decent in PVP play too...

As for your healers, I NEVER see them doing any amount of significant damage, or doing much else besides healing really, so go figure.

The beauty of DCUO is that you can build your character to do almost any role if you study the pwers and put the right combinations together.

As long as you're supplying a respectable amount of power to the rest of the team, you can do pretty much whatever else you want. You could start a dance party, even, as long as the healers have enough power to heal, just do whatever.

Healers have a 25% damage debuff just for being in Healer role. The tradeoff is that they get a 65% buff to healing. But hey, if we stopped healing, all of you would die. That's why most raid boss fights tend to go south when the healers die.

Well, I mean, you can't have Fire as healer, but otherwise, yeah, any role can be DPS or another class, and that's pretty cool.
