I've been using acrobat and gagets for a week now with good results. The bow does take more time but it's really accurate.

Bows are probably one of the better choices for healers, fun fact. Anything ranged, really, but bows seem to be the popular choice.

Huh? Electricity is a power itself.

Okay, look, it's like this: What weapon you choose shouldn't effect your choice of power, but your choice of ROLE should effect what weapon you choose. DPS can choose pretty much whatever they want, Controllers can also go either way but work just a bit better at range, Tanks need to stay up close and personal, and thus work best with melee, and healers need to stay at range.

Another thing to take into account is attack speed. The hit counter isn't just there to look pretty, the higher you get it, the faster you Mana (Called power in game, I'm calling it mana here to make it less confusing) restores itself. This is important, especially for Healers who expend a lot of Mana, as well as Controllers, as well as DPSs who prefer to use Powers over weapons.

So really, it doesn't matter which power you choose, but which role you want to play.

You've only played for four hours. You haven't even hit level ten yet. Let the experts handle this.

Also, there's no "wrong" setup for playing DPS. There are less effective setups for Tank, Troller and Healer, but those with the DPS role can do pretty much anything and still do good damage. And Bows, by the way, are very popular ranged weapons, and work VERY well as they can make a lot of shots very quickly.

As far as I know you do, not sure if you got the membership on a special, that might change things.

The best thing to do is try them in different combos until you find the one you like best. I personally used 7-8 characters before I found the weapon/power combo that worked best for me.
My personal favorites are: bow- gagets- acrobatics
one handed- electricity- super speed
dual weld - fire- flight
If you use guns pick duel pistols over rifle, it lets you engage multiple targets at the same time; my new character has duel pistol- gagets -acrobatics and is working out well.

But what are their roles?

Yeah, Rifle never did it for me. Always felt a bit too clumsy.

control/healer/damage

biggest problems i had with rifle were the styles never matched the function; the shotgun should be semi-auto only, the sniper rifle should have better range and damage, the flamethrower should have fire. this is less a issue with the pistols but i still like them better

Oh, for healer? You're going to want a ranged weapon. Healers suffer a damage debuff just from being in the role (I've heard anywhere from 25% to 40%, no one seems to give me the same answer) so getting up close and personal to do damage is pointless, you need to stay back, watch the battle, and heal as necessary.

Take it from me, CR81 nature healer.

also just to clareify things for legendary membership. i will still be able to use the special powers and weapon like shield, earth light and electricity after membership expires, but cannot go do the dlc missions or towns anymore?
