DC Universe Online was zombified when Statesmen/Jackalope decided to go for a Marvel MMO twice! First in 2016-2018 before EG7 and 2020-2022 with EG7. Then, he absconded with most? of the Dimensional Ink staff to Jackalope Games, now Jackalyptic Games. Now you guys have Geko from City of Heroes, unreleased projects (FC/X1/X2 probable), before landing into Star Trek Online (CaptainGeko).
If Geko is going to do something different. It would basically only be revealed by 2027 through 2029. DCUO in 2025 is too early to call for a grade.
Overall, DCUO is safe as #1 Superhero MMO for now.

Instant the trailer length shrinks or switches to ingame content. Is when the World of Warcraft Killers/Phobics start having their player ingestion fall. Which will curb total player growth and slowly rot the game. As every single MMORPG that has lost significance has ditched cinematics.
As the AMER/EMEA side we do not have a WoW-class Superhero MMORPG. Where APAC side is building up from scratch. Filling their market with Superhero Animations, Superhero Comics, Superhero Novels, and finally Superhero Games.
Space Hunter 3, 3D as 2D MOARPG
Glance Hijack, 3D Strategy Action RPG
Seren Verse, 2D lane-based game
DCUO isn't alive, as in its marketing strategy it is basically dead. If it can't compete in promotionalshare/mindshare then it is dead.
Of which, there are three Superhero MMORPGs set to release from APAC. All with balooned budgets; Tencent (sequel to the link; Codename: Odin), Garena, Mihoyo-Hoyoverse (Honkai-version of ZZZ = MMORPG). If DC Universe Online as a corporate game can't compete. It is only natural investors at EG7 to say no to DCUO enhancements. Dimensional Ink/Daybreak/EG7 have at most only a couple months before we get bombarded.
For example, for short content cinematic releases of a licensed intellectual property:
Need For Speed Mobile (3rd NFS MMO) S1: Most Wanted
Need For Speed Mobile S2: Underground
Need For Speed Mobile S3: Custom King
Need For Speed Mobile S4: All Stars
"It was a transition year for DC Universe Online with a new leadership team taking the reins with updated direction for the title as communicated early 2025. Under the new leadership, the annual content release schedule will expand from two to three chapters. Additionally, significant gameplay changes and monetization efforts are planned for 2025."
"With this shift, DCUO introduces Story Arcs that unfold across several Chapters throughout the year. This innovative approach promises to deliver deeper storytelling and enhanced player experience, redefining how fans engage with the DCUO universe."
Story Arcs = Seasons, so DCUO needs to up them cinematics.
Imagine losing to an idle/mobile game, like Star Trek Online vs Star Trek Fleet Command; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ve9DU0D5iDg
