DCUO 2 Already Please.
Man i wish we already got a sequel.
This game is soo damn outdated now, barely anyone plays the game which i checked at the time of writing , barely 1k people, which is reallllllllly bad for a f2p live service game.

I remember when i first started playing this on the ps3 with 2 friends, back in like, 2013, it was suuuuuuch a blast, servers full of people flying, running, jumping across skyscrapers, open pvp, having to fight others to do missions, now THAT was some of the best memories we've had in any mmo, the game used to be soo lively, soo fun and fresh back in the day.

Now everyone pretty much left cuz the game is just too stale, no graphical upgrades been made, no major changes made either, other mmos evolve over time tryin to innovate their game so they can keep their playerbase, some games failed, some succeeded, this sadly is the case of failing to do so, i have very fond memories of this game but i simply cant go back to this, the game is soo dead, even if i wanted to make new character and play with friends, it gets boring because its soo empty, there is barely any interaction between people anymore, its all there on high levels and even then its BARELY there.

If they made a sequel with modernizing everything about it, im sure the game would blow up once again , give us better combat experience with some cinematic supermoves we could perform, try to innovate a lil, give us even better mobility options and feel to it, a better and open world to traverse, just better everything.

I have no doubt in my mind that sequel would flop as long as those improvements were made.

We probably have to wait for another Superhero MMORPG to come on to the scene.

2019 = Project X/MiHoYo "Project X is a new ray-traced action shooter from popular anime game developer Mihoyo, coming in mid-2021. The game features next-gen anime-style rendering and advanced interactive physics on a spherical open-world planet."
Where the guy directing the game, went to work with Tencent.
2020 = Project SH/MiHoYo which is basically an aggressively scaled-down X. “brand-new AAA open-world action-adventure game featuring shooting-based gameplay within a living, breathing paranormal world.” => "anime-style, GTA-like action game built with Unreal Engine 5."
Where the guy directing this game, went on to found Anuttacon.
2022 = Project R/MiHoYo which removes the Shooter gameplay and makes it a MMORPG. Which the new gameplay system is basically this: Zenless Zone Zero - Trigger - Sniper but with the Honkai IP (Gun Girl Z, Honkai Impact 3rd, Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail).

Where the project if it isn't the R one is basically this.
Modern City, Open World, Stylized Rendering, Multiple Storylines, PBR (Physically Based Rendering), UE5 (Unreal Engine 5), RPG (Role-playing game), European and American Cartoon, Shooting, Near Future, Fantasy, Multiplayer.

Genshin Impact = $100mil
Year +1 = $200mil
Year +2 = $200mil
Year +3 = $200mil
Year +4 = $200mil
Budget for a MMO has been way exceeded.

Where the battle will be between this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpYueGE6FQ8 and this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzLWovRyp5Y Target for Honkai MMORPG is 75 million monthly active users versus World of Warcraft's peak 12 million subscribers.

There will be demand to copy it if it succeeds. As City of Heroes failed, Champions Online failed, I believe the EBITDA revenue shows Everquest 1 beating DC Universe Online.

+1 or a major visual overhaul of this game.

I'm always glad to see this game still active though. It's one of my favorites.
Players asking for major visual overhauls are elitist snobs promoting the waste of resources on ultra-expensive high energy consumption gaming rigs just to have a "better" picture a normal human eye can't discern.

From a profit perspective the proposed overhaul or sequel will achieve: expenditure of a lot of money on development, and making game inaccessible to many old players who have old gaming setups, or splitting the playerbase causing some players to quit due to significantly increased queue times.

Thankfully there are sensible people in Daybreak who won't do it and'll just keep the game going to milk whatever they can with minimal expenses.

The whole "death of MMOs" phenomena is caused by having too many MMO's and their sequels in existence with new ones constantly being released so playerbase gets spreaded thinner and thinner, with some MMO's being empty from release, like Light and Dark or Perpetuum.

So ud rather them milk the game for the 500? ppl only playing the game???? and then let it die painfully? Great view mr.

Id rather the game got sequel and revive the entire game, bring new players in, with better gameplay loop, more fun progression, actually nice looking abilities and not same things just recolored/reskinned >.>

Game did not age well, this just needs revitalizment.
You are kinda crazy with your "dead", "alive" and "painful" talk, you must have some kind of "special feelings" that I don't.

Also you must be playing on EU because US is full of players.

By full, i hope you dont mean 1k ppl :D
By full I mean constantly meeting players in general areas and having almost instant Omnibus queues in US prime time.

I am in the aesthetics crowd. You can jump into Unreal Engine 5 and not be photorealistic. Unreal Engine 5 examples: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umyn1D0EzSg && https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16QbXRBQwQk UE5 Urban Fantasy MMORPG example isn't out yet, but is set to "release" this year. It will likely look like this if not copying Morefun's Donghua game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vWwF6TTDXM As Dragon Raja (UE4(2019)/UE5(2025)) should still be sharing assets with Life Makeover.

Fresh starts can gain more money than their predecessor. Where a new-ish looking game is more attractive than an old one.

Daybreak Studios' CEO Jack Emmert did two Marvel Universe Online projects. One before EG7 and one after EG7. Which was greenlit twice by Daybreak Game Company's CEO Ji Ham. As well as greenlighting, "Everquest Prime" the reboot of Everquest 1. "So now, Chan confirms that active work on a new EverQuest game is indeed happening, but Darkpaw Games is extremely gun-shy about calling it EQ3 ... With that in mind, Daybreak is effectively calling this next title a reboot of the original, with modern graphics, gameplay, and style, while still feeling familiar enough that fans immediately recognize the world." The first and second game in ranking is Everquest 1 and DC Universe Online.

The "death of MMOs" is caused by Gacha games doing "The world is the main character" style better. Also forgot the biggest MMO DFO is going Gacha with an Unreal Engine 5 game; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LH6AM7mTkd8 Which the MMO-variant by itself crushes King's Candy Crush IP.

Dont think a "game" bunch of closet pedophiles play because of oversexualized minors in it counts as a reference for a "good game". By your logic, CornHub is the most successful internet site ever created.

Gacha trash is gacha trash, made in china. Grow a spine.

Plus, That asian trash will be a new "game", you are comparing that with a 20 year old game? Kind of flawless logic you would expect from an oriental glazer.

If it earns more then it is good. DC Universe Online is a corporate game. It isn't an community game, it isn't an open-source solo-dev project. Money is all that matters.

Still earns buckets of cash, which is all that matters.

World of Warcraft is still the #1 Player Character MMORPG with the highest player count and highest earnings. So, it is still the benchmark to topple.

World of Warcraft -> Project Frontiers (World of Starcraft) -> Project Titan (World of Overwatch). The game to succeed Warcraft at Blizzard is the Superhero one. So, it is that any Superhero games from the clone market. Is extremely likely to be as successful as Titan's internal projection as being the WoW killer.
2019 -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-so6nvXVeY 2024 -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=va4Vn1oWkMk They can't take Warcraft, but they can take Titan's market unimpeded. As it doesn't exist. DC Universe Online is not capable of being a wall.

The Superhero MMORPG projects from China and Korea both have "European and American Cartoon" targets. So, they will be somewhere in between EAC and Donghua(CN)/Aeni(KR)/Anime(JP).
