How much money can one sink in this game?
And what benefits do you get by doing so?
Like I wanna know whats the essential thinks you can buy and if its worth spending a couple of $ to skip some grind or anyhting like that?
Or do you have to pay to unlock content?

That is up to you to decide. The biggest benefit would probably be membership. With it, you can pick any character power you want to play with (free powers can get the job done just fine though), as well as several other benefits that come with it: https://dcuniverseonline.fandom.com/wiki/Membership#Chart and you can keep playing that character when the membership ends as long as you have enough character slots (which would be 6 by default). You might want to try the game for free first to see if you like it or not. All the playable content is free.

Ok thanks. That sounds nice so far.
So the only way to pump money into the game is by membership or by buying small stuff like skins or slots and characters! Did I get that right?

Sadly, there is a lot of progression-related stuff you can buy in the marketplace, including in-game mark currency (which you can get relatively fast just by playing) and stuff to level up your allies and artifacts (which you'll need for the hardest content in the game; the regular content can be done fine with them being low or even non-existent; that leveling stuff drops from regular gameplay). None of it is worth buying, in my opinion, though.

Actually you can buy accounts with money from players who want to leave the game (that should say a lot about the game)

The content is unlocked but you cant play every day all missions you get lootlocked at the first. The ones that gives most currency are weekly and they reset every Tuesday night and all others with normal currency they reset every day. You can unlock the lootlock with Replay Badges that you buy from Marketplace for example 10€ 350Replays (Raids reset with 87 and Alerts with 24).

To skip the progress of grinding your first CR struggle you can pay 20+€ i dont remember exacly to join into last content instantly

With just the membership of 13€ per month you have unlocked everything / extra inventory and bank / extra daily rewards / more stabilizers (Next ill answer what Stabilizer is) So if you want to unlock all powers and pick whatever power you want you can just pay at least once membership in the start otherwise you need 10euro to switch power and 13euro for membership if you want paid powers.

If you want to get deep into the game Time Capsules will help you. Spend all your money everything your pocket can afford to open Time Capsules and collect the feats and sell all worth items from Capsules that will give you a lot of money / Ally XP / Artifact XP / Artifact Catalysts (Those are hard to upgrade and with money the progress going faster for example without at least 3 max artifacts no one will want you in decend leagues etc) There is a lot feats to get through Time Capsules

Feats gives you 10 / 25 / 50 points, everytime you reach 100points you get SkillPoint.
the max skillpoints right now is close to 900, Almost 200sp you can get through Time Capsule and another 200 you get by collecting rare stuff from the game that you can buy with ingame cash from other players + the CR skip 100sp you can get more than Half SP from the game with just spending everything your pocket has. Otherwise just buy account for 1000+euro its more worth. If you want to see more sh*t things about game check my review
Considering a character skip to the current rank is like 45 dollars you can easily sink in lots of money especially if you've been playing for years.

Ive put 70 hours into the game and gotten two characters to max level end game without spending a single cent.

For a dying game, there's really no point in wasting money on it anymore, especially since there's no longer any desire to add major content to the game since the money they collect from DCUO is reinvested in their other games and not DCUO, it's clearly stealing from the community...

PS: DLC is not major content.

the minimum to unlock "full content" is something like 6$ once in your life i guess , and then ... you don't need to pay for more .

you can play for free , if you dont chat , if you dont craft all those dozens of useless items you don't even have but which ingredients are overcrowding your inventory and ... thats it !

In my experience playing DCUO the only thing you need to buy is seal of completion. Everything else can be obtained or gifted through playing the game. The reason for this is that when you get an artifacts close to max level breakthroughs start to waste supplies because they have a %chance to complete. In my opinion the best way to do this would be to just spend 5 bucks to get your first seal and unlock in game privileges ( such as chatting more that 5 times every 24 hours) then save all your daily log in currency to buy more seals. Once your 3 artifacts are maxed spend daily log in currency for cosmetics and what not.

You can buy seals from Doctor Fate vendor in House of Legends.
Zulujin Oct 13, 2024 @ 6:52am
Yea Doctor Fate is the vendor to spend daily currency where you can buy more seals of protection and completion for artifacts. So if you were going to spend any money at all (just to unlock full benefits} I would buy a seal of completion and hold it until the lvl 200 breakthrough.

But why, though? By the time you'll need those seals, you'll most likely be able to buy them from Doctor Fate anyway (considering you'll log in at least 21 days per month). There are things in the marketplace that you can't get anywhere else, like second armory for example or extra bank/ inventory/broker slots.
Zulujin Oct 13, 2024 @ 7:56am
Eventually yes you will have enough but as I said the currency is only gained daily so you will definitely earn enough nth metal to max out before you earn enough fate tokens to afford the max, so at this rate by the time you can afford 1 through in game currency you can comfortably max out 2 artifacts at the same time. Gaining the most benefits while spending the least amount of money is the topic so I do agree with the second armory that would actually be a better choice than the seal of completion but the extra slots not so much.

You need destiny token to buy seals, which you get only after 21 days of logging in on the free track.
so at this rate by the time you can afford 1 through in game currency you can comfortably max out 2 artifacts at the same time.
What exactly do you mean by "max out" artifacts? Because there is no way you can get an artifact to rank 200 in a month just by playing, let alone 2 artifacts. And you're better off using seals of preservation at early ranks because you can buy 10 of them for the price of 1 seal of completion: https://forums.daybreakgames.com/dcuo/index.php?threads/seals-preservation-vs-completion.314304/#post-4382530
Zulujin Oct 13, 2024 @ 8:55am
I mean that nth metal drops all the time and there are items to even boost the drop rate and since the artifact can not go beyond level 200 (max) having an extra seal of completion for the final breakthrough (200) would be highly recommended. Since as you stated it takes 21 days to get 1 token you will most likely have more than one artifact ready by the time you can afford the seal of completion.
