You could buy to activate either VISA or Mastercard gift cards that are sold in select gas stations or stores.

This way, you won't have to worry about your actual credit card information being stolen.

In the past 17 Years playing online games, I only once came close to Info being stolen, but that was due to SONY's Security lacking against a Hacker.
I had never actually considered it an issue until you said that.

Steam is the most secure gaming platform I know of, there has never been any kind of data breach (EGS has already had multiple data breaches), it's better to subscribe through Steam and it's easy to access all your Steam subscriptions through https://store.steampowered.com/account/subscriptions/

How is it a hassle to subscribe with Steam Wallet, it works just like PayPal basically? Third party that handles the payment for you. I went to the website to sub, Steam is one of the payment options, that links you over to Steam Website, you log in, add funds to wallet, authorize, confirm and it's done. No need to give yet another company your credit card data if that's a concern. I found nothing tedious about the process personally.

All it takes is for Steam to Update it's terms again. And you wanted to cancel your subscription. Or when you want to Subscribe for the Following Month. You have to put money into the Wallet monthly.
Whereas through the Website, it's basically "Click on, click off"
