Honest Answers: Still Worth it in 2020?
I'd love to get back into the game. I was one of the first players to launch this game back in 2011 when it was originally released. I was on and off between 2014 - 2018 and officially quit back in December of 2018. Wondering if this game even has active players, leagues or developers. Will I enjoy it as it once was? Or is the game still a pay to have fun peace of trash that offers nothing but a way to sink endless amounts of dollars.

I learned there are new developers so I'm hoping something has changed.

Are people active at higher tiers? Could I find active friends that still play? Or will this game hold back my enjoyment due to the features it has shakily implemented within the past couple years?

Been playing off & on since 2013, started on PS3, now on PC. Daybreak developers did a "revamp" in August 2017 that screwed many of the games core mechanics that made it unique & ran off the vast majority of the player community (I Left because of that for about a year, but found myself missing playing, despite the frustration of that update). Daybreak got big with Everquest & decided to make DCUO more like EQ & they mostly succeeded. So now most of the game is just obtuse grinding and wasting time on failed instances. Since the "revamp" they have made some efforts to adjust some of the major issues from it (like soder colas being completely useless for months) but by and large it's still very unbalanced and rife with issues; a major one being that instances with groups of suggested CR members are almost certainly doomed to fail, or at least take for-freaking-ever to complete; if you don't have an overmax carry, you're probably just wasting your time. Furthermore gifts and freebies for members have been majorly gimped and free/premium players are basically left out in the cold. The most recent DLCs usually have plenty of people still but middling and newer toons will have difficulty doing multiplayer instances without friends or a very active League so most of the build up to high CR must be done in Solo Open World & event areas. The basic game (up to level 30) is still mostly the same (combat mechanics aside) and very enjoyable, but after that IMO, its just a big wad of garbage now so far as content and playability go.

No don't play this crap, you are better off with SWTOR

and DCUO is still pay2win and most of the basics are locked behind a paywall

i used to play this game a bunch on PS3 to PS4 back in 2011, up until about a few months about the Red lantern "Rage" powers dropped. Back then it had entirely different ecosystem to it, then it does now. Tried to get back into in in 2018, and i simply couldn't. All the changes it had, and the new Pay2win models they implemented left a sour taste in my mouth. i will forever remember it for what it was in the past, and hope that someday, a MAJOR revamp/overhaul can come to this game. Hopefully in the way of new developers and a *New* game release.
A "DCUO" game could for sure work in 2020, but it has to be a 2020 style game, with revamped graphics, new quests, DLC model, and marketing.
I'm still waiting patiently for a game like this to make it's return.
But to answer OP's question, No, no it isn't worth it in 2020.

Don't worry about graphics that much, gameplay is fun, story is great, customization if good later in-game, combat is definitely solid and worth a try. Look at cyberpunk. Its amazing in terms of graphics and story but is horrible when it come to gameplay combat. I say play it and see for yourself, don't listen to incompetent people.

Very repetitive game, very pretty though and fun. Shares all the info for the comic enthusiast.
