Mental, Gadgets and Ice are golden trinity right now. First two are good trolls (no match for Quantum troll, though) and Ice is extremely easy to use as both dps and tank.
Sorcery and Earth are incredibly powerful because of their pets.
Munitions is almost as powerful as Ice, but can win only because of supercharged Biggun, also a nice trolling.
No doubt others, possibly including you, will have different preference but those are all very good classes for teh mentioned reasons. For healer, an honerable mention would be Sorcery due to it having great nuke potential with the Fury pet and free heals with the Watcher pet. I would suggest you try out all of the classes and find your own favorites, I often switch between them all and have no main.
But since OP is asking for best dps with good support role...
Ice and Earth win as tanking powers, with Ice taking the first place, in my opinion. Sure Atomic is great battle tank, but the dps side is not that strong.
Of all controller powers the strongest dps is probably Mental, closely followed by Gadgets.
Personally I prefer Quantum, for its amazing stunning abilities, but the dps is quite average.
Regarging Munitions... well, only one word. Biggun. :D Works in both roles.
Sorcery is most powerful damager of all healing powersets. Nature and Electric are great healers, too, but their dps is the weakest in current state of game.
Again, it's not about chasing a scoreboard. :) Choose the power you enjoy the most, each one is unique (Stats Revamp will make all powers' mechanics the same) and has its advantages and downsides.
I have done quite a bit of experimentation, and in my experience Light comes out on top. If you keep chaining combos, even when there are not enemies directly in front of you but close by, such as using ones that allow you to move on your way to other enemies you wont fall behind in the scoreboards unless they got better gear. In the cases where foes are spread thin Light could fall behind due to the chained ability combo damage increase taking a little bit of time to trigger. Mental, i have found, is not that great at damage output but rather sustained damage due to Resonance making an infinite power loop. Gadgets is great with lots of abilities, but i would not say the best DPS. Main reason I do not recommend Munitions is due to it being ridiculously vulnerable to interrupt which makes it terrible in PvP.
Electric is the worse healer, mainly good for back up heals in my experience. Regarding DPS, Sorcery may very well be better than Celestial but it would be only due to faster damage output, not more. That's why I mentioned it. Nature is a superb DPS, but not teh best. Nature can dish out DEVASTATING amounts of damage chaining together damage over time (DOT) abilities and spreading them on top of its insect swarm pet's DOT as well. However, Nature takes time applying and spreading the DOTS, which makes it not teh best for competing on the scoreboards.
Reason can be quite simple, I haven't tried all powers yet, already too many alts in my pocket. :D Besides not everyone plays in the same style. :)
I agree that in casual play Mental and Gadgets may not be the best, but if you use WM glitches or/and lots of clipping, the numbers are astonishing. I'm too lazy to chase a scoreboard, though. ;p
Nature is indeed better than Electric, but still falls behind everyone else.
Ironic that on test server those two are the strongest.
Sure it only depends on actual skills (not sp) of a person.
I'd like to notice that this is just my opinion and it's not "the only true statement" in any way. Just an impression of non-so-hardcore player. ;)
Elite versions of Olympus and God of Monsters raids sometimes have a few of those.
Hell, even seen them in regular content, but they blast through it so fast I can't even notice what they're doing, lol.
Just noticed this part, oops. :D Well, many people play the game outside steam and/or on consoles. ;) Playtime doesn't really matter here. I may have put tons of hours into it, but I'm still learning something new every day.
