I also am the type of person who likes to really get sucked into the world and just have fun, so I've never rushed through the campaign or story in a game. People might say I go through games slowly or spend too much time admiring the world or just stalking the AI to see what it does.
Lastly, if you need to get lots of XP very quickly just go make a big stronghold very upset. I remember fighting about 40 Uruk with 4 Captains in the middle with me. THAT was crazy, and while I did eventually perish, I was able to acquire many thousands of XP before dying.
EDIT: Maybe if you play the yellow story mission to fast not all red mission show!?!
I guess all I can do is grind to unlock them all but it seems kind of pointless when all I can do with the new skills is kill more generic mobs.
I am not sure if higher level Orcs give more XP, but I always only hunt the strongest on my journies through Mordor. Many times I have let some time go by while on the towers to let the Orc society do their thing. You need to give them time to replace killed captains, so you have more to hunt. Also death threats raise the level of the Orc captains, so the fights are much more enjoyable and challenging.
I have played nearly 40 hours now and haven't left the first map yet. I have one more Warlord to kill, but I am still doing my death threats first, before I will continue with the main story.
BTW, the creatures give good XP. You can kill them with the bow pretty safely.
Question: Does your Orc society still work? And do they create more captains for you while waiting on the towers? (using the time shift option)
See if you can level up some Orc captains to level 20 and send a death threat also. I am sure you can gain more XP like that. Off course only if your Orc society still works, that is.
. . .
I'm pretty sure the Orc hierarchy still works but there's just no reason to try and kill them all any more. I mean, I already have all the warchiefs under my control so I could kill some and replace them with new ones and then kill them but what's the point?
I definitely didn't rush through the story mode, I've been playing for about 30 hours now and I rarely used the fast travel system, just running through killing everything on the way. I went out of my way to finish all the hunting and collecting challenges too so now my journal is fully completed and I can't get XP that way.
I got enough of the M currency to buy all of the attributes by the time I had finished the story and I thought I'd get XP at a parrallel rate so that they were both complete at about the same time but that just wasn't the case. I know how I can get the last few abilities, my problem is that there doesn't seem to be much point in spending hours grinding orcs just so that I can say I unlocked them all.
I recommend to take it a little slower next time. As I said, I am still on map one after 40 hours. So I have a lot more hours to come. I am guessing at least another 40 hours, if the second map is the same size and things to do.
Since they have the season pass available, I am sure there is more content coming. Or does anyone know more about that?
Like I've said a few times, my problem is that there's no point grinding for hours just to get the new skills and have nothing to use them on but more grinding.
I could just kill orcs to get the XP but that would take hours. I could do the respawning quests but they're just grinding orcs too and only give a few extra XP (less than a tenth of what I need for a single ability). I already have all the artifacts and glowing elf painting pick ups so I can't use that as a source of XP, and selling runes is totally useless. They only give 5 M points which is basically worthless and won't help at all to get the abilities (the M points only count towards the attributes which as I said, I already have all of).
My point is that I specifically went out of my way to make the game last a long time, killing everything in my path and completing all of the optional quests and collectable missions before getting to the story end, yet there were still 6 of the abilities left to get and no interesting ways to get them.
If you find the combat interesting enough to waste hours just killing orcs for no reason then you will probably get them all, I just found it too similar the arkham games. I played all 3 arkham games, not to mention several assassin's creed games and the all have a similar combat style so I'm just kinda burnt out on it. If you enjoy it then I'm happy for you but I just find it too boring to do just for the sake of doing it.
