Sorry man, that's not how it works. Directx11 was released in 2009. That was almost 6 years ago. I know not everyone has the money to upgrade their PC every year, but come on man, you've had 6 years. You honestly have no right to complain, especially when the minimum requirements on the STORE page say Directx Version 11. You can't say nobody warned you and you have no one to blame but yourself.

You can afford to pay 80$ to get a video game, but you cannot afford to upgrade your graphic card? PCs and PC gaming might be the wrong choice for you - consoles are made for people like you, you know?

You guys keeping it real...I love it.

You can get a DX11 GPU for 80 bucks, if you get a good deal somewhere. The brother of my girlfriend has a GT440, which supports dx11, and cost ~100 bucks a year ago. Granted, you won't be playing SoM on a 440. In any case, why on earth did you not read the system requirements prior to purchasing?

here is keeping it real for you i bought this laptop 2-3 years ago yet "it doesnt support dx11"?

yeah right f*ck u too game

im not paying 500 dollars just to swap a f*cking motherboard they need to add a patch for dx10 or lose money

i paid for a working game not a broken one

and i will get a refund if they dont fix it

Sorry but the game isn't broken, you just don't meet the system requirements. With PC gameing you need to upgrade parts every few years if you want to play the game that come out. My build may not even be powerful enough to run Witcher on any sort of tevel that is suited to PC gaming. (it meet's the lowest requirements)

I have DX11 and have freinds that don't so our choice of games to play together is limited.

They can't fix user inexperience.

If you send a polite, succinct request to Steam support for a refund, informing them that you are a novice PC gamer and you bought a game you cannot run, they may do a one time refund. Emphasis on may.

The first reply you get from support will be a bot, respond to the bot to get a real person. It takes about a month for a human to respond to you.

Good luck with the refund!

Yes, I have heard that Valve will issue a one time refund on good faith, but there's no official policy on record that I can find.

honestly i think its pretty stupid that people have to check the system requirements at all... i come to steam to find good games, regardless of graphics. its always nice to have some badass graphics for those pro-hards that like to have the latest and greatest and can afford it. but for those of us who dont like to spend a bunch of money on something that is literally a time waster, give us some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ graphics but let us atleast play the game. i submitted a ticket when i bought this game and came to find out my 32-bit windows 7 wouldnt run it.. alright i bought windows 7 64 bit for 100$ and was so excited to play it to come and find out my graphics card wouldnt support directX11. this is crap. next thing you know something else will fail and i spent a ♥♥♥♥ ton of money on basically one game. id say theyre shooting themselves in the foot by not allowing lower quality computers to play but it turns out were buying it anyways so why should they care.

I stopped reading your wall of text right there.

Dude.....just because you bought that laptop 2-3 years ago does not mean that it is a good laptop. If you bought it with the purpose of playing games, you should have chosen one with a DISCRETE GPU as opposed to the CPU's own (IntelHD) Integrated graphics cards are barely sufficient to play 4-5 year old games. They will NOT add Dx10 support, for the simple reason that DX10 was unsuccessful, and merely a few games used it (crysis, devil may cry 4 and a few others) If they do add support, it will be for DX9, which many devs use to this very day. Also, it is your own fault that you did not ask the seller about dx11 compatiblity.....it is a 6 year old technology.

In a way it definitely is. At the same time, it is rather sad, as the guy threw 50 bucks out of the window, just because he has no idea of computers. On the other hand, his misdirected rage is slightly amusing. If I purchase a PC/Laptop, I do it with a clear idea of what I want to use it for, and choose accordingly. Fortunately, I know what my performance needs are, and what to look for to match them, but if one is less tech-savvy, he could still ask the seller for a machine that matches his needs. Raging on the forum because his "graphics card" (it's not really a graphics card, it's your CPU tbh) does not support dx 11, and blaming the product for being broken is just too much. more than half of the games released last year required a DX11 GPU.

For the OP: Ask steam for a refund. They usually do not issue refunds, but if you describe your situation for them, I bet they will do so, after a long and convoluted process.
